I haven't really read the book, but I've seen the movie and loved it. I've heard the book is better, though, and I have read parts of it but not the whole thing. I really should read it someday.
Back on topic, I really like "On My Own" as well, and I really don't think "pretending" was all that bad. Most singers who sing that song sound a bit odd on that part, so to me it's just normal.

She sings the rest of the song very well though. She did seem a bit ill-at-ease at the beginning, though--maybe because she wasn't happy with the song. She did a great job for the most part, though. I didn't like the way the song was chopped up, but that wasn't her doing--she did very well with what she was given.
Oh, and I was comparing Danielle's version of "When You Believe" to Sam's from IDA again last night, and thought Danielle's was much better. Sam always seemed to struggle with the low parts of songs, and Danielle also acts the song way better. I'm glad Sam has done so well since IDA ended, but on those two performances, Danielle wins. Hands down.
