The standard is dire!

I didn't watch the heats but tuned into the semis tonight and was really disappointed with the quality of the acts.

How did The Ruby Girls get through? We've seen far better dancers on shows like You Think You Can Dance. I couldn't believe Piers essentially admitting they were there because they look sexy! Embarrassing, patronising and desperate were the words that came to mind.

The 'comedien' was excrutiating.

The Michael Jackson tribute was an inferior and less innovative version of Signature

The young boyband were out of tune.

Lady Gaga - words fail me.

The woman and her dog were the best of the night but even they weren't all that original. We saw a similar act a couple of years ago.

Maybe we need a break from BGT for a couple of years to let the talent out there replenish itself.

You missed out that 'singing doorman'. He has an amazing voice imo.

It quite frankly is depressing.

I would love cams on Cowell as he sacks both Holden/Morgan If this is the very best that came forward its time to 'rest' the show.

Last night wasn't too bad, tonight has been awful, god knows what will happen tommorrow if they started with the best!

Agree with all of the above. In fairness it was really bad.

You've left out the Frank Sinatra Bouncer - like he seems like a nice guy and all but he is very very average.

Connected are woeful, sang completely out of tune.

Chandi is cute and the best of a very bad bunch... but still I was a bit meh.

Last nights semi was a lot better (Tobias, Spellbound, Chloe)....still though this years standard is certainly nothing to write home about!

Hopefully the acts that do get through will step it up for the final.

My apologies - I just realised I missed Neil's performance and even from the brief clip I just saw, I liked him

What a shame Simon went with Connected. Older singers like Neil won't get this opportunity again.

It baffles me how Simon Cowell a so-called musical genius lets them go through to the final.

Too wrapped up in image me thinks.

Young, cute lads versus someone older. No brainer for Cowell.

Neil was classier, more sophisticated, better suited to Royal Variety. He's been robbed.

It needs to go on a break for a year me thinks.

I cannot believe that Simon went for Connected........mind you I shouldnt be he wants to connect with the teenage girl audience........my only relief that they obviously didnt get as much votes as the dog who was more talented than all of them put together.

The show and Simon Cowell need to go on a permanent break, it's tired and it's a total shambles.

Its very very jaded this year, and the standard as mentioned...is really very poor indeed.

Simon Cowell must wonder what has happened to the world... when he is sitting there judging a man chopping bits of wood.....endless dire dance acts....etc etc etc.....

I really feel its time to retire this one for a few years.

BGT is something of an and of pier show. I doubt many professionally trained yet unknown acts would even consider appearing becuase its image is Piers Morgan and the man who chops wood. So its going to attract the very young, the daft and the deluded. And the thought of being passed over in favour of a man who chops wood is not something for anyones cv.
And yet, ridiculous as it is, Susan Boyle became almost an instant multi-millionairess on the back of a ten minute introduction.

It always baffles me when an "act" like that wood chopper or "lady Gaga" can be put through and as soon as a decent ventriloquist starts their act they're buzzed immediately!

Maybe I'm wrong, but in comparison to these rubbish acts, a good ventriloquist displays REAL talent, especially if they're funny with it, which a lot of them were in the auditions

I caught a bit of Connected, and fair play to them for having the guts to appear in front of millions-but they looked like primary schoolchildren on a school karaoke night. Nothing more.

Just watching last night's and the standard was much better.

Feel sorry for the Bollywood dancers and the young lass who sang because they would have stood a much better chance against tonight's line up.

The two semis so far haven't been very well balanced

My parents were in the audience tonight. Glad they didn't have to pay for tickets. If I know my dad he'll have left halfway through lol. At 74yrs old he'll certainly have been sat there saying ''Alicia who'' in the results show if he stayed for it.

Out of all the acts put through, I would most like to see Twist and Pulse win this. The standard is really not up to much, and they are the only ones for me who are genuinely different and entertaining through natural talent, without the same old, same old singing/group dancing theme.

But I have to agree with OP, the standard this year really isn't great

Absolutely agreed. Whilst I didn't want another street dance act to win, they're the only ones left that don't bore the hell out of me.

And if not them, then Paul the impressionist, he actually makes me laugh! The rest are just the same old run-of-the-mill routine so couldn't care less

This is the worst BGT final ever. There is no interest or excitement surrounding it....the overall standard is very poor.

Nothing wrong with the standard of the auditionees but as per usual they don't pick the best 40 acts. They seem to select a few favourites that they really want to make the final and then surround them with weaker acts to try to steer the public towards voting for the ones they want in the final. This seems to happen in all of these types of shows now.

Cowell put Connected through because he can make money out of them. Lots of money.

Neil was far more talented, but you could see that Cowell was getting unpleasant flashbacks to that karaoke singer he championed on Pop Idol or whatever show it was years back, who then won, left Cowell's record label after numerous rows with him, and who still, years down the line, takes every opportunity to slag Cowell off in the press.

I wish I could remember his name.

I agree totally. There is so much talent around that never makes it to the show at all, then we have to sit through all the stupid acts which have no talent at all. Its the same with x factor - putting people through to the judges stage that are really bad just to be laughed at or have the audience chant 'off off off ', or to be told they are the worst act they have seen.
If you want to see real talent these shows aren't the place to see it.
There are a few good ones in the final - mainly spellbound - brave stunts are seem a decent bunch, and Paul Burling - I have seen him a few times and he is always good.

I am guessing that no self respecting act will now audition for it .Where for example are the choirs ? I would love a good choir or gospel singing group to win this year and make it a bit more interesting but I didnt see any even at the early stages .
I am bored solid with street dancers and George Samson one trick pony types .Then we have the Susan Boye/ Paul Potts types ., they were both great but now we get queues of them .
Then we got the "entertainment " ones , ala Gaga and Madona that make me switch off . Every year the same format and now I for one am bored of it .
