Celine Dion is so incredible

After watching a live version of 'The Power of Love' on youtube, my personal opinion is that Celine Dion is the best singer in the world at the minute. Link to video

We have the legends, MJ obviously is gone, Whitney has lost it and Mariah Carey has lost her voice. Celine has remained consistent since she started singing, and can still sing as well as she did all them years ago. Every album she releases does well, and you always get amazing vocals.

Every performance she does is incredible, and she puts her heart and soul into every song. Her music may not appeal to some, but no one can deny that she has an amazing voice. I saw her live in Dublin in 2008, and can easily say she is also the best live performer as well. Every note was live, the best concert I have ever been to.

Singers today e.g. GaGa and Beyonce are all about the performance, and putting on the elaborate show, not totally about the voice, whereas Celine is all about the voice. One of the last great voices we have in the world.

Anyone else want to share their thoughts on Celine?

This was pretty good aswell http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7SAjQVvnmE
You know she's a real singer to sing on the spot like that!

lauryn hill is, IMO, the best singer alive. however, she is apparently crazy and not working at the moment, so she it moot.

whitney has indeed lost her voice, but i wouldn't say mariah has - she's just too deep into the wrong style of music and too happy and comfortable in her personal life (good for her) to care too much about reinvention.

onto celine, she is obviously an intelligent and sensible woman who continued her vocal training and therefore still "has it". although i reckon she was too young to resign herself to years playing live in vegas and therefore practically disowning any fans who aren't/won't going/go to vegas.

another issue that comes into play is the hated celine seems to conjure in music fans - the phrase "at least he/she/they're aren't as bad as celine dion" has met my ears many a time. unfairly so, may i add.

and then beyonce - the one artist who seems to have nailed both the vocal and the visual element, alongside the rest. she will be, ibelieve, the ultimate winner, should she continue in her correct decisionsand zietgiest-maintaining abilities.

Celine is my favourite female vocalist. She still has her voice after performing from the age of 12!

Whatever she touches, turns to gold.

I'm with you. No soul, just going through the words in tune with a few warbles and shouty bits thrown in. Oh and holding the long note at the end - always a crowd pleaser.

Is she really singing live? A spectrum analyser responds "Negative."

This doesn't change my opinion of her. Great singer who deserves her place in the hall of fame.

love her or hate her, no one can deny that Celine Dion has an incredible voice, one of the best in the world.
I love her and always have done, she has released some of the greatest tracks such as Think Twice, Because You Loved Me and My Heart Will Go On to name but a few.
Long may she continue!

She has a great voice, I've loved her since I was a kid. But why can't we hear the audience in the OPs video?

I wouldn't go quite so far.

She has roughly zero soul in her voice. Compare her to Arethra Franklin - absolutely no comparison whatsoever.

Celine Dion is a good pop singer, she's not a great vocalist.

An absolutely fantastic singer - one of the best of all time. She can just blow you away with her voice, and the way she can hold a note with such power is breathtaking.
I have such admiration for her, particularly for staying so devoted to her fans after all of these years and not going down the paths of destruction like so many other artists.

Technically, she is a very good and well-trained singer who obviously has a lot of discipline too. The few televised interviews I've seen with her seem to show that she is quite a nice, easy-going person as well.

However, her style of music is not to my taste. She has made a career out of playing it safe and dull. I always assume that she is much older than she is, partly because of her audience and her dated singing style.

Incredible voice. I understand if she's not to anybody's taste, but even if you hate her & wish she never existed (mushymanrob, I'm talking to you), nobody in the world can deny that she is a technically gifted vocalist.

Mallaha said it well - music is not to my taste, the stuff she tends to perform is of the ludicrously boring ballad style.

I can see how she has such a following, but still maintain that whilst she's a good singer, she's not one of the greatest. To be greatest you need to be able to put some real feeling into your performances - thats something that Celine Dion and Mariah Carey have in common - both have good ranges and are technically excellent, but they are incapable of putting any feeling into their performances.

She has the second most successful tour by a female solo artist for a reason.

Her performance of My Heart Will Go On is actually vocally perfect:

You cannot call Celine Dion a polished karaoke act. Yea, you don't like her, but come on. I don't like a lot of artists myself, but I can at least admit they have talent, but just aren't to my taste.

why not? is she not just singing other peoples songs? surely saying shes 'polished' is (reluctantly) admitting to some talent... like ive said, i respect the fact that she can perform live.
