So whatever causes the crack hasn't happened yet but we can see the effects because of the whole wibbly wobbley time wimey scenario. Like someone already said above, it happens in the future but the effects can be felt in the past. So it's retrospective or do I mean the opposite of retrospective?

Either way, hasn't happened yet.”

There's two ways of looking at it. Firstly, like you said, the actual event hasn't taken place in the Doctor's timeline yet. But it has happened at some point in time and space.

The second way is to consider what sequence of events caused the explosion to exist at all. The previous timeline had no explosion and no cracks, now there is an explosion due to happen. What caused that change in the timeline?

Call me crazy...

But could we be being led in the wrong direction? What if the Crack was actually a minor plot point to a far more potent, but less obvious, recurring theme?

Like what? What do you think we've missed?

I'm just saying it as a crackpot theory, I haven't spotted any subtle recurring themes which will shock everyone... yet.

You, my good friend, are a master of the understatement.

I think it's quite telling that one of the clues (as mentioned on another thread) is that the Dr doesn't know who Amy really is.

Which suggests that we (as the audience) already know who she is.... edit -> just checked my facts -> the statement is: 'he doesn't know about her'.... Mmm

I have no answers by the way! I haven't the foggiest

Plus it's not the first time regeneration has happened in the Tardis. Or even the third!

Just read in another thread that DT appears again during this series...

Maybe the crack is caused by his regeneration because the 'split' version of him wasn't present (i.e. Doc 10.5 should have realigned with 10 to regenerate into 11)..... Two points in time that meet but don't belong together Mmmmm

Yes, by gods, I think I'm onto something there. You heard it here first ...
