What's with all the Janey hate?!

I was reading through the threads on here and was just wondering why the majority of people (not all, but most!) seem to have it in for Janey Cutler? There's been some spectacularly nasty comments posted about her and I can't really see any reason for it. I know the press and the media have compared her, perhaps unjustly, to Susan Boyle but that's not Janey's fault. She's never once made the comparison herself.

It seems to me, that even if she is not the strongest singer in the world and the judges may have got slightly carried away with their praise for her last night, at least she has the stones to get up on that stage and belt it out for all she's worth, age be damned! She certainly doesn't deserve the spiteful and petty comments she's been getting on here. I just thought there would be a bit more support for her on here. Must admit, I'm a bit disappointed!

I don't hate her, and I havent been nasty, I just don't think she's that good thats all.

She certainly should not have won the public vote based on talent, but thats only my opinion.

Good luck to her. Good luck to them all for that matter.

I agree.

A couple of weeks ago when she first auditioned, a poster had 'fingers crossed she'll be dead before the live shows'!!

WTF??? Absolutely no need!

Eh, that case could be argued for all the contestant though because the vast majority of them are giving it everything they have and being criticised one way or another.

But like Lizzy said, I don't necessarily think there's alot of Janey hate, it's just she was really overrated last night and it's well known if the judges give someone praise like that, they'll pretty much always go through, at the expense of other contestants which leads people to start complaining about her.

I don't 'hate' anyone. I am not a fan of Janey as a singer, but it's DS! People always go OTT and personal.

Judges have been lavishing praise on all the child acts too.

Indeed, and the praise they lavished on Connected when they were clearly out of tune for the majority of the performance and yet they put them through over someone who wasn't out of tune once is pretty frustrating.

Don't you think that was because Simon got lambasted last year for making the little 'uns cry? Simon made that little dancer boy Aiden weep, and that foot stomping brat with the pushy mum had a temper tantrum.

I don't think I've seen that many bad comments.

Though I do find stuff like 'I think she's hit the sherry' and 'She may have wet herself' as very funny.

I've not posted anything about Janey, but personally, although I think she's gutsy, good for her age etc etc etc, I wasn't entertained by her and therefore didn't want her to go through over other acts who DID entertain me. Certainly don't hate her though, just didn't like her particularly.

It's big brother syndrome. Some people can't handle the fact that their opinion/favourite wasn't what the general public wanted, so they feel the need to take it out on the contestant they thought got their favourite voted out.

I have no problem with people not liking her or thinking she's not good enough; that's the nature of this forum. It's the spiteful, vicious things that have been said that I object too. People commenting on whether she'll still be alive for the Royal Variety Show or that her mic was shaking so much she must have been on the sherry that offend me. The woman is 81 years old, for goodness sake. I hope I am that fit and healthy if I'm lucky enough to see that age!

"Hate?"....."Got it in for her?".........All a bit too strong if you ask me.

However, the lady might be able to pop out a tune but she isnt all that good and I do feel that if she were 20 years younger, she wouldnt have won........I dont think that anyone should be put through just because they are over 80.

I love the lady herself. She's hilarious and I'm glad she's having a good time. I quite liked her audition; No Regrets is a song that doesn't require the best vocals, in fact it's fitting to have a shaky, imperfect voice belting it out.

But last night she was not good.

She should sing My Way in the final. Like No Regrets, if you sound like you've been through it all, seen it all, it works.

I wouldn't take much notice; the people on here are quite petty if someone gets through over their favourites. I've pretty much learned to not let this forum skew my opinion on the contestants. I personally think she's a lovely, naturally witty woman with a great voice, and I wish her all the luck for tomorrow.

I agree OP. Some of the comments are terrible.

The fact is she is not going to be able to compete with younger people.

She is over 80 years old, singing in front of millions and putting 100 per cent into it. How many over 80 year old singers are there in the world that could sing like her?

I have watched some of the younger singers this week and they have been completly out of tune. She does sing in the right register and has probably been one of the better singers this year on the show.

What about the lad that wrote his own song? She is miles better then him. How about Josh? She was much better then him also. How about Connected she is better then the five of them put together.

She may be over 80 but she earned her place more then the 3 acts i just mentioned.

Its only because there throwing their toys out of the pram because the dreadful Arrangement never made it into the final, so they pick on a old lady to make themselves feel better!

She might surprise one or two people tonight as apparently she is reverting back to Piaf's Je Ne Regrette Rien, her trademark song.

If you think what this competition is 'supposed' to be about and what every contestant says that they are doing it for..................i.e. to perform in front of the Queen (as opposed to the recording contracts that they really want) , then Janey fits the bill well for that venue.

So which act do we think the Queen would really enjoy?

Then the answer is sure to be Janey.

Now if the competition was soley about recording contracts?

Perhaps this is what Simon and co are about when they are promoting certain acts over others.

We've got at least three in the running that Simon and co think are fit for the Queen:

Janey
The drummer
The dog and trainer

The rest are probably cannon fodder.

I feel sorry for her. She can't even hold the mike without shaking it like no tomorrow. She needs an escort to get off stage. They might as well give her a chair so she can sit down and sing.
