My guinea pig probably knows as much as Simon does about what the Queen would see fit for herself.

Let's face it she will compliment whatever we stick in front of her, why don't the public just vote for the most talented & entertaining in their eyes rather than vote by judge's persuasion.

The problem lies right there in your sentence........the public always seem to be swayed by the judges. Especially so when it comes to indecision.

I think if the public were to go by their own 'initial' feeling, we'd have a different vote altogether. But for that, we'd need a competition that had no judges at all.....i.e. no input or opinion from them.

But when will that ever happen?

You had one last week : the Eurovision Song Contest.25 songs with no judges and the public are totally free to make up their mind which one is their favourite.

A complete rarity of course : it seems every other contest on TV that has a phone in vote has a panel of judges swaying the public's opinion.

Hilarious

Like I said before....we need to ban all judges and just go for it. At least we will have a true percentage of votes that have not been swayed by any 'professional' whatsoever.

We might even end up with such a hilarious result as the Eurovision.

But at least we 'the nation' would at least feel that the vote was fair as opposed to being swayed, influenced and persuaded by the supposedly 'impartial' judges.

I never understand all this hate nonsence, if you don't like an act fine, no need to hate, what a mean spirited way to be. This is a lovely elderly lady who still has a zest for living life to the full, and I hope she wins.

I didn't think her voice was as good as everyone as told me from the auditions.
But everyone loves their nanna and janey makes us all think of our own nanna up on the stage, hand shaking, getting one final chance to be a singer when they probably thought they would never perform like that again.

I'm annoyed at her because she's a poor singer and took the place that should've belonged to a group of great dancers.

Eurovision song contest was 50% public and 50% judges

You have to admit, she has a powerful voice for someone of that age. Having said that, I wouldn't go out of my way to see her perform. She benefited from a massive sympathy vote, but if people stop and think, then ask themselves..is this really "entertaining" ?..I can't see that vote holding up in the final.

I think she's pretty hot for her age

Yep they changed it back last year to try and avoid some of the Political voting that was so angering people.

Britain apparently, after Wogan's outburst, threatened to pull out if something wasnt done about the voting system, and seeing as how we pay for a hell of a lot of it (hence why we get into the finals automatically each year, despite sometimes dire songs) they are trying this.

It helps a bit. After all, Germany won this year, and it was said that like us, they could never win again!

As for BGT, I just think the top 2 acts from each semi should go through. Either that or just the top act and the judges make a pick from ALL the others.

I totally agree with you on that..she may be a "nice old lady"
but shes distinctly average vocally and shes getting preferential treatment..the judges fawning over her is sickening to watch..
it wasnt "the best vocal performance of the series" either and they damn well know it,,i was no Subo fan but she was at least a better singer..standing there with your wavery mic might be ok for the local Darby and Joan club but i want something fresh and original on a show like BGT...i actually know people who have said they will vote against her not because they dislike HER but because of the judges OTT comments and overhype...we could have another Diversity situation on our hands ..oh and theres no way she got the most votes the other night...Twist and Pulse or Tobias to win please!!

Not my cup of tea at all and as others have said, had she been 30 years younger she priobably wouldn't have made it past the producers. Her age is her gimmick.

But good luck to the old girl. I would bet she's seen some hardship in her life and could tell some stories and at the end of the day she is in her last years so why not let her go for it bigstyle? If she was my nana I'd be proud of her.

No one wants to watch dancers year after year.

Yeah, I'm fed up of dance acts this year. There has been more of them than anything else. Might as well rename the show Britain's got Dance Acts.

I do like Diversity though.
