I got my deluxe copy today - Horah!!!

And my verdict is:

Eclectic and partly disjointed album – it’s a mix of power ballad Xtina; R&B rhythmic Xtina and Electronic Alternative Xtina. Each one has highlights but the songs are dispersed that the album takes some getting into. I think the playlist for album doesn’t work and perhaps would benefit from a clear 3 way division to aid continuity. One thing does remain. Her vocals remain strong, clear and thankfully auto tune free!

R&B Xtina
Not Myself Tonight – bold as brass – nothing else similar sounding on the album…a one off… 8/10

Woohoo – grower…annoying also ….. 6/10

Elastic Love – sounds too copy catish of Satigold/MIA and vocals leave me a little flat – brave risk…but doesn’t work….needs some power vocals to add variety 5/10

Desnudate – like it a lot….it works and is catchy ….8/10

I Hate Boys – could be good live……6/10

Monday Morning – like it ..alternative sounding good baseline…prefer it to Elastic Love 7/10

Bobblehead – again very MIA sounding….. 6/10

Power Ballad Xtina

Sex for Breakfast – 8/10
Lift Me Up – WOW…beautiful 9/10

All I need – pleasant vocal, breezy and light affair , very SIA 8/10
I Am – again very SIA , lovely flow, crystal clear vocals 8/10
You Lost Me – lovely strings and angelic backing vocals 7/10
Stronger Than Ever – sounds like it came from stripped era 8/10

Electronic/Alternative Xtina

Bionic – so disappointing…. 4/10
Glam - good electronic – 8/10
Prima Donna – just doesn’t go anywhere 5/10
My Girls – soso 6/10
Vanity – reminds me of Beyonce for some reason….. 7/10

Birds of Prey – this should be track 1 or last track…beautifully haunting 9/10

I think her record company did not know what to do with this …you have material for 3 different kinds of album. And two new style Xtinas. I am sure they were thinking what has happened to Xtina? So they tried to take control and the result is a mixed album. They should have split the album into 3….or reduced the track listing to 10…its clear that a more controlled tracklist omitting those rhythmic tracks that just don`t work….

My I tunes playlist would be: it makes a more coherent album

1. Glam
2. Not Myself Tonight
3. Desnudate
4. I am
5. All I Need
6. Stonger Than Ever
7. You Lost Me
8. Vanity
9. Sex for Breakfast
10. Lift Me Up
11. Monday Morning
12. Birds Of Prey

And what a shame goldfrapp songs didn’t make it…they could have added that je ne sais qui?

"Not myself Tonight" and "Lift me Up" are my favorite of the tracks on the album.
Overall, I gotta admit....there have been better pop albums this year and SO much better Christina singles/albums.

My favs are all I need, Elastic love, monday morning, denudate and Bird's of Prey.

I agree the track listing is odd because there are so many different type of songs on the album. But I'm going to re-arrange it on my itunes and then it will be just perfect!

Mine came when I was work, so I popped home at lunch and listened to it a bit on the way back, and on the way home. And so far, I LOVE it!!!!!! Gonna have a proper listen a bit later, I'm putting it on my iPod right now.

Exactly how I felt about the songs, WooHoo is beyond embarassing, the album shows no signs of what Christina claimed about it being about motherhood and her child etc etc, that was clearly a load of crap.

You Lost Me is boring, she's better than this and shows it on the album. Unfortunately she also shows she is a lot worse than this at times which is very disappointing.

Of the deluxe version which is I think 19 songs long, I like 8 of them (well 9, but the 9th is just a stripped down version of another song) I Am is stand out, Monday Morning, Prima Donna, Birds of Prey and Stronger than Ever are excellent whilst Lift Me Up, I Hate Boys and Not Myself Tonight are listenable album filler.

There is almost a full listenable album in there, but there's just so much crap around it that ruins it. I'd suggest listening on YouTube and downloading the tracks you like because I'm embarrassed to have some of the other tracks on my iPod.

Definitely a major disappointment, its just a mess really.

Agreed, its a very grown up sound and an excellent track. Has she performed this live do you know? I can see her being unbelievable at this live.

Not yet. I'm hoping she will do it tomorrow at the MTV awards. Or if not when she goes on the today show or VH1 storytellers next week. It has to be done live. Even the stripped version is good.

I hope she does do it at the MTV awards, perfect exposure since it's worldwide.

I just pray she doesn't do something tragic like WooHoo or another song to make a complete show of herself. A sensible choice is a must.

So listened to the new album and while there are many goods songs, the album is kinda a mix mesh that doesn't quite go together.

Can't put my finger on it but some of it seems a little dated.

I agree with this statement. Its a bit too pick and mix rather than one certain style. But the plus is that the good tracks are epic eg: I Am while the crap tracks are terrible eg: Bobblehead. The fact Bobblehead got a place on the album over Litte Dreamer sums up XTina's current problem.

I think if she did her album layout the same as Beyonce it would have worked better for me. Power ballads on side, club tunes on the other. I would have had Birds of Prey as the first track of the album.

Having a great song like I Am and then two tracks later I Hate Boys ruins the flow of the album for me.

Shows just how important track placement is on the flow of the album.

You Lost Me is beautiful. That and WooHoo are my faves. Really wasn't a fan of Glam, but it has grown on me since the album leaked

Someone suggested on a Christina forum this was the plan. To have the 'My Heart' CD and the 'My Brain' CD to tie in with the Bionic theme but the idea was dropped as it was seen too close to Gaga's tour setlist.

That could have been good or even a Metropolis type theme Maria (the woman) /Robot (Bionic new Woman)

The Album is good I guess, it's just I Hate Boys is so 90s and girl power in it's most shallow form, then I play fighter about inner strength and it's like two different people.

Maybe Bionic is code for manufactured?

So much better and more coherent. Why did they change it?

Damn. If the whole set up of the album was changed due to the Lady Gaga comparisons then I really feel for Christina. This whole period is fast turning into a shambles.

Giving the album another listen. Hmm. Hopefully it will grow on me. I was expecting a lot more to be honest, especially as we waited 4 years for it.

There is an interview which comes with the album if you buy it on itunes. Xtina said that the album was finished 6 months ago and then she had to go and film her movie. She said after she filmed the movie, she felt like she had more to say and wanted to go back into the studio and add to the album. She said NMT came from these sessions. She says that she had grown after making the movie, so Im wondering if this is the reason why it was not a fully electronic album because she changed her mind later on in the project.
