They then got top ten hit after top ten hit and because they've lasted so long and have had so many catchy songs they've built up a massive fanbase and now the general public know everything about them, know all their songs, they're selling out arenas etc. Without the TV show and Xenomania they'd be doing exactly what The Sats are doing right now.

The Sats got alot of money invested into them and they're doing well with it. Considering how awful some of the management decisions have been ('If This Is Love' as lead single, Comic Relief single so soon, 'Work's promo being an absolute mess, 'Forever Is Over' as lead single, album released on the back of one single and only nine months after their previous album peaked, constantly making them mime, not capitalising on weak singles market two months ago with a new single etc) they've done incredibly well. The only things they've failed at are missing the #1 spot with Comic Relief (Flo Rida, the biggest selling download in America at the time beat them), 'Forever Is Over' getting poor sales and only selling around 80K with their second album but considering the circumstances i've just mentioned then it's not really The Sats fault.

They just need a #1 single to establish themselves, imo. Right now people don't think they're any threat to the top spot and just assume they'll land somewhere between #2 - #10 and then collect around 200K sales and move on to the next single. If they smashed it with a massive song and got the top spot people would recognize them alot more. All this about pushing Frankie into the media is a mistake, imo, as she's not the smartest member and can only bring them bad publicity with teenage girls getting jealous at seeing her with McFly.

And btw, they're incredibly down to earth. If you checked out their backstage videos (or even this video you'll find they're all pretty funny and do alot to please their fans.”

Lol you make their management sound completely useless Shadow.

No apologies necessary! But very sweet of you to do so

Yes, I only meant, that's her 'thing' to me, that she's old...well, oldER than the others.

But I (and all the boys in the house) agree that Una's the hottest. She's unique looking, and not in a Georgia May Jagger 'unique' looking way

Think of the Spice Girls, Sugababes, Girls Aloud etc they always had loads of personality. This lot do not, even Atomic Kitten had more about them.

Whoever is managing them is doing a very good I'll give them that, but they look far too groomed and false and why is Frankie the most high profile? She's like the Cheryl Cole of the Saturdays already, getting all the column inches, and the irony is she's not anywhere near as pretty, she's not even the prettiest member of the band! Compare her to Una and you'll see what I mean. She;s also got this silly "funky" hairdo that she obviously copied from Rihanna.

What is their appeal?”

I reckon you made the classic mistake of having the sound on when they were performing on TV

Frankie is like a better looking Posh IMHO

frankies an idiot...

she has natural good looks, but uses far too much make up, her hairstyle is... less then complimentary, she needs pie n chips! 'heroine chic' simply is revolting, a little meat on her wouldnt be unsightly.

All The Sats have got is Up and Issues. The rest of their songs are so forgettable. I'll give them Forever Is Over though also because I quite like that one too.

But so far, The Sats have not nearly generated as much interest and admiration as GA had by this point. They're just so, bleh.. (Fair enough GA had a TV show behind them, but The Sats have had loads of money pumped into them, 2 former S Club 8-ers and all the magazines doing as they say by promoting Frankie the most)”

Girls Aloud had the advantage that the public had come to know all the members individually through Popstars the Rivals before even forming Girls Aloud. The Saturdays had to start more-or-less from scratch.

You list my 3 favourite Saturdays singles but I do remember all their singles, which is very rare for me but a sign of their talents. They are also quite friendly on tv too.

While I don't think that makes her an idiot, I agree with you.

So more or less every girlband going at the moment

The problem with the Saturdays is most people only like them because they are good looking girls (evidenced in this very thread) - rather than their music. They have some great pop songs.

Up is a good song, as is Chasing Lights. The rest of their stuff stinks.

I don't think Frankie has the best voice or the best looks.
Frankie is really pretty but Una stands out by a mile.

Look-wise
1) Una
2) Frankie
3) Mollie
4) Rochelle
5) Vanessa

Voice-wise
1) Vanessa
2) Rochelle
3) Una
4) Frankie
5) Mollie

Old at 28?!

Frankie is clearly being pushed forwards as the Cheryl Cole of the group by their management. But she appears to have little in the way of personality, and isn't even the prettiest member of the band. That's why it all seems so contrived.

I don't think there's really anything to "get" about The Saturdays - they are a group of girls creating inoffensive, decent pop music. Pretty simple to be honest!?

Chasing Lights should have really been a single IMO, but Up of course is their best. I like most (or nearly all) of their songs though.

Considering that girl groups seem to be a rare species on the charts at the moment, one would think The Sats should be much more successful than they actually are but for whatever reason, the public aren't buying into them.
I think The 411 should launch a comeback

I think Vanessa/Rochelle need to take the leads on the songs as they are the strongest vocals with ness being the overall strongest. Una's not bad either but mollie/frankie are just shocking. Watch some of their accoustic performances and you'll see what i mean.

Yep! Up should have been their first single, then Chasing Lights their second.

I don't even like The Saturdays, but those songs are really good.
