She wouldn't get Eponine which is the female lead left unannounced and Sam Barks has just got the Queens Eponine role.
I would imagine Flashdance is a clue as Stephanie is a triple threat who can sing and dance and act. Whats similar shows are there around heading to a cast change or are coming (Flashdance says its due in September) that have a role for someone her age?
She could be doing anything in the right age and vocal range though. Jessie has moved more into acting, Niamh did a new musical at 18, helped ALW develop Love Never Dies and joined Mama Mia at 19. Some of the Dorothies have been for Aspects of Love which is also opening later this year (?) and seems to have one role for a late teen girl. Blood Brothers (Linda) is also an obvious possibility for her at some stage as long as she doesn't get typecast by hometown?

I would never call Stephanie a triple threat. Her acting isn't nearly good enough for that status. Having said that, her singing and dancing are superb and the acting will come along. For me, Steph was the only true triple threat in the competition (though you could make a case for Danielle, even though her singing wasn't on par with her acting and dancing).
Flashdance would have been a super move for Stephanie so I wait in anticipation to see what she chose instead.
Oh this is exciting, I love hearing what they get up to next. With such a young group of girls, a lot of them are going to disappear into training for a few years - which I totally approve of - but it's fun to follow the rounds of auditions and parts that come afterwards.

Oh gosh how many times do I have to make this argument on this forum.
Being on TV does not make you a good actor. There are many, many crap actors on TV.
Now admittedly, I'm picky when it comes to acting. My standards are very high.
I taught drama for a while and would have loved to have become a casting agent or something, because I enjoy watching people act and searching for that special spark of talent.
Nothing Stephanie did on this show suggested to me that she was a great actress. Except, possibly parts of Smile.
There was no subtlety or real truth in what she did - there was a pantomimey 'over the top' aspect to virtually all of her acting.
I'm talking particularly about what I observed from the group numbers. If you want a very good example, go to the mashup which began with Sondheim's Losing My Mind and compare what Stephanie was doing to what the likes of Danielle, Dani and Steph were doing. A Fine Romance was another example of Stephanie's inability to be subtle and nuanced.
I totally disagree that her acting, singing and dancing were equal, because I thought her voice was gorgeous and her dancing superb.
Having said all of that, I think she was a super little performer and put across a number very well. And I think she'll have a great career, because you don't have to be a phenomenal actress to have a great west end career and she's very young and will learn. I just don't think she'll be winning Tony awards any time soon.
And I'm not at all surprised she's been offered something very quickly, because she's more accomplished and professional than the majority of the Dorothies. But I have no doubt many of the others will get their breaks too.

That is one of the most accurate things I have read on this forum yet haha you are so right!
Not discrediting the talent of Steph but I still think Stephanie was given a poor song and chosen to go by Andrew because she was easily the best talented and they wanted to keep the competition open. Personally I think it is really good that Stephanie didn't get the role of Dorothy, because then that is all she may be known for, and I think she could turn her hand to anything she wanted to
It is fantastic that she was offered Flashdance but moving down to London when you've just turned 17 is a pretty big step wouldn't you say. There is still plenty of time for her to get onto the west end stage

My standards are very high too and what I am saying is editing comes along way into it. None of them were given the opportunity to do straight acting except the little bit of edited script with Sheila Hancock, Whereas the singing and dancing were apparant in every number. So the acting skills of each Dorothy was probably the least to shine through and alot of it went on the type of song you got too.
We are all entitled to our opinion and I am stating that Stephanie was a triple threat which was very noticible. Obviously you have your favourites and Stephanie was one of mine.
I went to the fountain studios a couple of times and to be honest Stephanie was the only one I couldn't take my eyes off. She stood out in all the group numbers but due to editing on the TV and personal close ups of the Dorothies when on screen you never really got the whole picture that you did in the studio. So I can vouch first hand. Some of them faded into insignificance in the studio and were too understated for a theatre audience.
It must have been difficult for them all to perform to an audience yet get the subtlety for TV but IMO Stephanie captured it the best. She was by far the most versatile. Yes she still has alot to learn so OMG imagine her when she is Steph or Laurens age in another 4/5 years time.
So lets give credit when credit is due - Well Done Stephanie!
ps: She may not receive a Tony award just yet ay 17 but I bet she is the first!

PLEASE tell me this means she's going into training and not a Bill Kenwright tour.. I've seen several BK tours and while they are good, they seem to be a bit of a cult! The performers seem to be in them for a long, long time. I know Sam Barks was in Cabaret for a year but it completely made her fall off the radar and took her a while to get to the West End after..

Hardly, she was cast in Les Mis recently and if I remember correctly was doing some TV work in between. Also Bill Kenwright produces shows in the west end too.

While I agree editing played a part, most of my observations came from directly comparing them in the group numbers. In my opinion *stress stress* Stephanie's acting often looked amateurish in comparison to some of the others. I think acting ability comes across very well in the numbers, solo or group.
And since you bring up Shelia, she thought that Stephanie was two dimensional during the acting task. This rang a bell with me as it matched what i was thinking.

I think we need to depersonalise this a bit. This is not about favourites. My opinion is that the only girl in the entire competition that was a triple threat was Steph. So I'm not exactly throwing around the accolade. For the record, I didn't think Steph was the right girl for the part, there were about five others I would have cast before her. But she was still the best allrounder.

I've said this before, but I do think she's a great little performer. In the way that Connie Fisher was a great performer and could put a song across well. However you don't need to be a great actress to be a good performer and I never rated Connie's acting either.

Don't worry she isn't doing a Bill Kenwright tour...
And I can assure you that Stephanie is still training as in having vocal lessons etc, but this isn't stopping her going to auditions, etc
I'm sure it won't be long now until Stephanie can deliver the news!
Don't forget also in lots of her post OTR interviews Stephanie said that she would like to do other stuff that be on the west end stage so we'll just have to wait and see what happens!

Cast in Les Mis recently, doing TV work. Granted that's good but WE was her ultimate goal and it took her a while.
I'm not slating her I love her work.. just so many people get stuck in BK tours.

If the casting had been up to me I would have given the part to Dani actually.
I thought Steph was a triple threat, but to say I favoured her seems a bit odd to me as I wouldn't have given her the part.

She's 19. By no stretch of the imagination did it take her a while. Also I don't believe she would have been ready for that west end role without Cabaret.

I think we'll see most of the Dorothys in an opening night somewhere. I don't think Stephanie will be the first, not in the west end anyway.
