one would assume orange and voda iphone users wont be able to upgrade early, unless they do something similar to O2

Phones 4u said to me that it would be better for me to buy 1 on payg & then sell my 3GS. But then this could be their way of trying to get me to buy a handset from them.

If Orange take the same route as O2 then the 4G would cost me £340 as I still have 18 months left of my contract. I have been offered around £240 for my 3GS from fonebank, so would only have to add £100 for the 4G.

I just checked...would cost me £100 to buy out the remainder of my contract.

Does that mean, as of July 24 I would be paying for my new iPhone tarrif and then buy the iPhone on top of that?

you d pay £100 to get out of current contract, then accept a new contract with that will have a line rental you agree to that needs paying from month one. Depending on the tariff you take there maybe an upfront fee to pay for the phone too

the amount would probably depend on the monthly tariff. If the 4G is under £500 on payg then it may workout cheaper to sell the 3GS for as much as possible then get orange to transfer the account to the micro sim supplied with the phone.

Congratulations on the sale . I guess the amount would depend on how much the 3GS retails at when the 4G gets released.

The price is only gonna drop, hence why I got rid of my 3G now.

As I thought.

I want this phone...but not hundreds of pounds want it.

I suspect that I would get roughly the same amount you did as the 3GS will be replacing the 3G once the 4G gets released.

I've used them before - and they paid what they promised on their website no problem. Normal wear and tear, scratches and weak batteries are fine. As long as it's not smashed and it comes on you're usually okay.

If it helps i've heard from a rep of another network they may launch an offer to pay the buyout fee to get you to move networks.

not prepared to say who as it may not happen, due to costs involved id say its prob a very high chance of not happening.

No prices have been announced yet, but expect an upfront fee unless you go for a high tariff. You won't get it free simply because you bought out your previous contract.

I used Mazuma to get rid of my 3G last year. Fast & efficient.

MoneySavingExpert.com has a site dedicated to mobile recycling:

http://mobilevaluer.com/

Choose your phone, & the tool will search the various different phone recyclers for you.

Got a link to your auction? Just to see what kind of nick it was in and whether it was 8 or 16GB?

Wow, just received the '16 Days to go' e-mail from o2, what an absolute waste of time that was!!

o2 obviously feel they needed to send something out, but did it have to contain no information at all and pretty much everything that was stated ended in "more of that to come soon".

This really isn't good enough from any of the networks. So come on, will one of you just bite the bullet and release your pricing and ordering structures!!!

I'm still not settled on whether to upgrade, & so have a new contract, or buy one PAYG & just get a Simplicity SIM. Depends on the cost.

Sorted one thing though: when to sell my 3GS. I had been planning to sell it *after* buying the 4, so I wasn't without a phone. But that of course means paying for a 4 before having money from selling the 3GS. However Mrs D informs me that she has a crappy old Nokia purely for Orange Wednesdays, so I can sell my 3GS first, & just shove my current SIM in the Nokia as a temp phone 'till I get the 4.

Just need to know pricing now...

they can only release them when they know what they are themselves

I've just had that. Lame isn't it!

"Today’s update from O2 Guru James"... & it contains a couple of links that don't tell you anything new, other than the "upgrade offer".

"Guru James" t-shirt says "Ask me anything".... I'd like to know the prices & tariffs!

FFS, the US prices were announced in the Keynote... Why do we have to wait longer? Surely O2 et al already know what the cost is?

I hope they don't keep us waiting right up until the pre-order date...

Shouldn't they have sorted the prices out already?

People in the US have had the AT&T prices since the day of the announcement.

O2, Vodafone, & Orange must surely have known about the iPhone 4 *before* Monday & been in discussions with Apple regarding costs *before* Monday... why the delay?

they would have yes, but its not that simple. Apple's core business is America, only after that is sorted will they start talking details to other nations and networks.

That's a lot of negotiations that have to take place.

I can assure you the networks will be making finishing touches to they're propositions still.

I dare say they will know roughly what they will charge, but they won't won't to give any of the other networks a competitive advantage by publicly releasing the price earlier than needed.

The US is different as AT&T is the only carrier.
