They will be meeting to set up a cartell!!!

Do you seriously think they will not be discussing prices?

I wonder how prices with Orange & T-Mobile will work, considering the upcoming merger.

its not upcoming they have merged into the JV already.

both brands will be staying on the highstreet and competing with each other.

from recent analysis it looks like they are moving contract HV to orange and low value/ prepay customers to t-mob.

Interesting...let the price wars begin ey?

Thanks for the heads up.

well I think I would be surprised if they dont all know what the other will do and i bet when the prices are announced there is little or nothing between them across the networks.

worked in pricing for two of the networks, i can assure you they will forecast and have an idea (educated guess) what the others are doing but by no means will they be talking to each other to know exactly how its being priced.

Weren't the iPhone prices and tariffs pretty similar on all the networks before? Or will that no longer be the case?

they will still be similar, but its not due to the networks conspiring to fix the prices, its because those are the prices they need to charge to return a margin.

[quote=Matt D;40801610]I'm still not settled on whether to upgrade, & so have a new contract, or buy one PAYG & just get a Simplicity SIM. Depends on the cost.

Sorted one thing though: when to sell my 3GS. I had been planning to sell it *after* buying the 4, so I wasn't without a phone. But that of course means paying for a 4 before having money from selling the 3GS. However Mrs D informs me that she has a crappy old Nokia purely for Orange Wednesdays, so I can sell my 3GS first, & just shove my current SIM in the Nokia as a temp phone 'till I get the 4.

Just need to know pricing now...[/QUOTE
]im the same matt i have an old phone i can use but really want to know the prcing for the new 4 as i need to sell my 3gs to cover the cost

if its going to be something silly like 400 i wont be able to afford it so need to know pricing pretty quick before the worth of the 3gs drops

I used Mazuma to get rid of my 3G last year. Fast & efficient.

MoneySavingExpert.com has a site dedicated to mobile recycling:

http://mobilevaluer.com/

Choose your phone, & the tool will search the various different phone recyclers for you.”

thanks for the link top one said 270 but then i went to the site and it was 237 dont know wot thats about but still a good price

On the o2 upgrade site it does say that people can text from 12pm on the 10th june to find out the price to upgrade early.

perhaps thats an indication when o2 and others will release other information also. just a thought

It doesn't say you get the price by texting, it simply says you can get your renewal date by texting:

And following on from the above post, the pricing can already be calculated if you know your renewal date.

I don't think the pricing will be significantly different, even though now that O2 has lost it's iPhone monopoly. I (unfortunately) expect all the networks to collude on some high price

I have used Mazuma before and had no issues with them, All I sent them was the phone in okay condition.

You may be the head of O2 for all I know, but I do know that each will have the ability to find out what the other will do. either via direct contact or via leaks from insiders.

There will be no surprises when the price comes out becuase they don't want a price war.

Better throw 3 into the mix as now all 5 main UK networks will have the new iPhone 4 from 24th...

do you have inside knowledge?

please dont tell me its going to be a ridiculous price for the handset even on a monthly tariff

I thought pricing on the iPhone was set by Apple, which resulted in the networks offering high prices for the handset and tariffs and low mins/text in return.
