You're taking the right attitude on the flash - it'll be useless for stills (and will cause red eye), and its main use will be as a light/torch.

It'll be interesting to see if they do bring out anything truly "new", as so far everything they've done has been a gradual evolution.

Add to that a new front facing camera, and improved main camera with flash. There is an improved battery as well.

You misunderstand me slightly, 11 suicides out of 800,000 workers is way lower then the national average of pretty much any country. The focus is on the company because they have the image of it being a sweat shop, which is something they have been trying to dispell in the press recently. But the focus is out of context, how many governament workers in the UK commited suicide last year? We don't know because no one is interested and it doesn't get reported on. The same or similar events or mental state will dirve a certain type of vulnerable personality to commit suicide. Just by saying 8 people at this company have commited suicide is sensationist press coverage without a balanced comparison to be able to give the story relevance to the bigger global issue of suicide.

It remind me a bit of the stories of those horror films of the 70's and 80's that apparently had curses on them because lots of the cast and crew went on to die or their family have tragic accidents. When stated as "15 people associated with the film The Exorcist have died or been killed in the last 10 years" sounds very tragic and also that there maybe something in the "curse". However, when you approach the story from a different perspective and consider that as many as 1000 people or more can be associated with the making of a film and then take a cross section of 1000 members of the public and compare the two, there will be a very similar percentage of tragic events in both groups. It does not point at a curse or a trend, just that these things happen in whatever group of people you look at.

I'm not saying that it isn't tragic that anyone feels the need to end their life, for whatever reason. What I am saying is that the figures and lack of statistics have lead to a sensationlised story rather than a balanced and educated report.

When you judge me for looking forward to their new iphone have you considerred that the factory where they are made has contributed to helping 800,000 people in China provide a better life for themselves and their families by having employment that would not otherwise be possible. It is by no means a perfect solution and the reason why these countries are in such poverty needs to be addressed as part of the bigger picture. If the factory was having hundreds of suicides, then yes, it would be more of a major story/issue and would indicate that something was very wrong.

The new iPhone is called the iPhone HD and will be available in several colours, not just black and white like the current iPhones.

If it is real it is the first time the 64gb has showed up on the back plate.

I doubt it is real as the black and white face plates have already been leaked, if there were other colours then surely these plates would have surfaced too? I might be wrong though, only 4 and a half hours until we find out for sure.

spoke to O2 about moving to them today for the new iPhone and they said they wont be taking pre-orders..... I take it I could reserve the handset instore?

What was the latest rumour on why this could be called the HD?

Higher definition screen (double the resolution of the current iPhone?), and better/higher definition video recording?

I also just went in store to ask a 'what if/as and when' question. For anyone else thinking about asking in store - DON'T BOTHER!!!

The guy in the store said he was fed up about being asked about the phone and said it doesn't even exist until it is officially revealed.

The quesion I was asking in store was how the transition to Micro Sim would work for those people only buying the new phone not on contract. I asked if they have the technology to be able to port over an existing SIM to a new SIM instore whilst I waited. He refused to answer the question and said they do not even stock Micro SIMs and that noone knows for sure the new iphone will use a Micro SIM.

I had to rephrase the question so he could cope with it, so instead I asked if my current SIM were broken could they port it over to a new one instantly. He said for an existing SIM that this is possible. But still denied the new phone was even coming or existed. He wouldn't even budge when I said it is a safe assumption and that we pretty much all know it will have Micro SIMs.

The guy in the shop was a real arse about it, but the more I think about it the more it hints that o2 know more about the phone than they are letting on.

I reckon that o2 employees will have had to sign an NDA. There can't be a swift and major release at this point in time without quite a few people knowing about the logistics of the release. As a requisit of the NDA I woudl also have thought Apple would likely test their loyalty to the agreement and send around mystery customers to stores to see if the employees budge on the info they give out (the chap in store was very quick to say we don't even know it exists rather than letting me finish what he I was going to ask him. I wasn't asking about the phone or dates after all so there was no need for him to be so cagey about it).

Of course, we will all find out in 3 and a half hours about release info and hopefully all of the phone companies will have their order programs in place and ready to go.

My only worry is that those of us who want to buy a phone on day one are not going to be able to because the companies screw up their stock of Micro SIMS. For example, o2 sotres don't even stock the Micro SIMs in store to be able to walk in off the street and take out one of the ipad deals they have online. This is just stupid.

I realise online and instore are two seperate arms of the same company, but you should still be able to walk in off the street and purchase what they offer online (even if it can't be at the same price).

Aye, that much is pure conjecture at the moment. I think its almost a given that the screen will be higher resolution - if its just doubled, it'll make scaling on apps considerably easier.

Not long til the event, just sit and wait time. I may not always enjoy the huge fuss around them, but I do always enjoy Steve Jobs presentations (absolutely classic, simplicity), and the products do always look very good (iPad excepted - it would have looked good if it had a thinner bezel).

It was a simple question about the porting of SIM cards. It was he who got secretive and defensive about the existence of the new phone. I went in with the attitude that I mustn't go in and ask questions about the new phone as they either wouldn't know or wouldn't answer them anyway.

These guys in the front line of shops no as much as the general public, I went into a shop the other week and woman showed me some info on the new iphone saying it had a 64g and an 80g version, but it was only a rumour she had heard. They are as informed as us.

Part of me can't wait to hear about the new iPhone 4G as I am a self confessed gadget whore. But the other part of me is doubtful that I would actually be able to get it as I am on Orange & as I only got the 3GS last Dec, I cannot see Orange doing any deals for current Iphone customers.

Yeah, I was aware the people in the stores know crap all about anything and that the knowledge I can obtain will be far greater (unless of course they are the same sort of person as I am and have bothered to take the time to find out as much as possible).

It really bothers me that people who work in shops that sell gadgets, do not take the time to find out what they do and how they work and all the possible info they could need to be able pretty much any question they are asked. If it was my job and I was paid to sell them, I would be embarassed to work there unless I knew everything about what I was selling. I would take the time to research every new item.

Most places are the same though and the staff show very little interest in actually knowing about what they are selling than they are in getting their pay cheque at the end of the month. I accept there are a few exceptions, but I have never ever come across one yet and would actually love to meet one of these mythical sales people.

Due an upgrade in November and would prefer the new model...but wouldn't want to have to pay hundreds!

Currently on a £35 a month contract with o2 if that helps. Just aksing from past experience, i.e. how much was the 3GS when it first came out.

I should imagine selling gadgets is probaly the worst job in the world, everyone coming in probably thinks they know more than you. What can they find out about the Iphone 4 other than rumours??

It's not really the new iphone knowledge that I have an issue with with the sales people. A lot of them seem to know very little apart from the absolute basics on any of the gadgets they are selling.

It's not the worst job in the world, at the very least you should be expected to know about pretty much everything you are selling in your store (or maybe have specialists on certain lines that can be referred to if needed), and should be able to match the knowledge of any customer who comes in to ask questions. After all if something exists and is for sale instore then all the information required about that product is already free for everyone to find out.

I appreciate for something that has not yet been released they are not going to be able to give anything away or find any solid details out until it gets officially released. But at least try and show a bit of interest and excitement for a future customer who is planning to spend nearly £600 in your shop!!

I would say pretty much the same as it is now.

The new one is likely to replace the price points of the current 3gs.
