WHY WHY WHY does RedOne insist on stamping all over his songs by having every single one of them mention him by name in the lyrics at the beggining

Alexandra burke - start without you
- bad boys

Gaga - Just Dance

To name only 3.

Hes such an ego maniac im sick of the same ' uh huh redone ooohhhhh' openings

Pixie Lott - Here We Go Again

What makes the name drop more annoying is the fact she sings her own name too! It's like "Yes, I know who is singing the song, I bought your bloody album!"

And that Enrique song with Rihanna "RedOne, Enrique!!!!! Rihanna!!!!!!"

That was quite annoying, but only cos Enrique sounded like he was having a constipated shit while singing it.

Red One had nothing to do with Bad Boys. It was a Phantom Boyz production, can't remember who wrote it.

Also the Silence on Alex's album has no shout out.

I think the OP meant Broken Heels.....

And RedOne doesn't shout out on every song. LoceGame and Remedy, for example. Good ol' Sean Kingston yells it on Fire Burning though.

Its to let the listener know who made the song, I don't blame him, If i was a producer i'd do the same.

He doesn't produce Bad Boys. On alexandra's album he produced Broken Heels,Dumb and The Silence.

Don't you mean Ciara?

This thread is a fail, big woop the artists shout RedOne at the start of some of his produced songs, what's your point?

I've just been corrected. It was Ciara. Can't remember what the song is called but I always thought it was Rihanna.

Don't get bitchy with me, I never started the thread!

Actually, a lot of artists CHOOSE to do it.

It's not used on Bad Romance, Poker Face, Love Game, Monster or any other Gaga tracks produced by him.

It's not used on Little Boots' Remedy either even though I think he produced it.

He's said on Twitter he doesn't get to choose - it's up to the singer's people if they want to include it or not.

Otherwise he'd have plastered it all over Poker Face and Bad Romance, wouldn't he?

Sugababes have the worst RedOne intro on "About A Girl" and it makes me cringe every time! The song isn't bad though. For some reason I do like the shoutout at the start of Lady Gaga's "Just Dance".

This is not new. Timbaland does it all the time... listen to stuff from the 90s and you'll hear it much more often.

Edit: Now I say that, I can't think of an example I think Timbaland adds a small rap to a lot of the stuff he produces.

If a songs production is good enough then you shouldnt have to crow about it - people will know it by reputation.

You dont have to blatantly self-promote yourself all the time in order for people to take notice!

Its really arrogant and vain and its really annoying.

And anyway I dont actually CARE who produced the song - YOURE A KNOB TWIDDLER! - the only thing I care about is who is singing and if the song is decent!

Did you read any of the rest of the thread?

Its down to the artist not Red One, if he really was a vain as your OTT post makes out, then surely he'd make sure he got a shout out at the start of Bad Romance or Poker Face rather than Sugababes About a Girl or an Alexandra song!

Everything about the producer is massively, massively important.

You're right though, they should be anonymous except to those who hunt them out. They shouldn't make themselves stars in the songs, except with a trademark sound like Spector's "wall of sound" technique or Mark Ronson's "ripping of the 60's" schtick.

But to ignore the importance of people like George Martin, Nigel Godrich, Butch Vig, Rick Rubin, Quincy Jones, Phil Spector and Brian Eno to a band's recordings and the sounds they make would be foolhardy. They are the "movie directors" of music, and massively shape what a recording becomes.

I quite like producer tagging.

A lot of other producers do it too - Darkchild is often referenced, Polow Da Pon has that 1, 2, 3, 4 chant thing.

Seeing as though it's often the production of a song that is half it's appeal, I don't see why they shouldn't be recognised

His is the worst! It's one thing to have the artist say 'Redone' but it's something else to plaster your name in a robot voice along with sound effects

I don't mind his one. And his songs don't sound the same either, which is good. But some of the songs (coughJLScough) aren't very good.

Oh, and thanks Patrick
