If only I had a time machine set for 1970.

Me!

But I always get more excited about the festival than the lineup itself. Looking forward to the Magnets again though, loved them last year.

I'm going!!!

I'm excited about the atmosphere rather than the line-up but i'm looking forward to seeing Pink and Macca.

Line-up looks really weak IMO; seems to me they spent 90% of the budget on Mcartney! Editors & Orbital are good bookings through, but I think The Strokes are a really weak headliner.

If that lot were playing in my back garden, I'd shut the curtains! And put my earplugs in (especially during Florence..)

I might peek out at Macca for ten minutes but other than that..shocking line-up, IMHO.

They are practically in my sister's garden! She lives about 500 yards away from the site. I have to get a pass to go and visit her! All the barriers are up, and the toilet and shower blocks.

My husband moans every year because they close the road leading to the golf club and he has to go round the long way!

By the way it is sunny here on the Island, after a rainy start. Fingers crossed for you all.

Cant wait to see Paloma Faiths set, its her first ever festival and I think she will be amazing, ITV2 better show her or I wont be happy! Haha.

Hopefully the weather will hold up Gill !

Don't think the lineup is fantastic this year compared to the last couple of years but there are a few acts worth seeing live. Mind you, always enjoy the IofW festival regardless of who is playing !

I'm going (i only live a few miles away lol)

There has been some amazing line ups in the past, and the weather has been roasting hot every year without fail.

They've got the beer in at Morrisons and Sainsburys! Can't move for piles of boxes.

By the way did you know that they have a big screen for the football on Saturday? So you can't avoid it even if you wanted to.

The only act I'd see would be Blondie, and I'm not even a massive fan of theirs.

I wouldn't go.

Yeah, knew they had the Big Screen in Field of Dreams although Fearn Cotton didn't yesterday on R1. She said she hoped she'd be able to find a TV to watch the game on Saturday - try the big massive thing in the corner of the field Fearn !!

I'll be watching the Doves as they are due on during the footie !

I haven't been into town yet this week but I always know it's festival week when Morrisons has it's 'wall of beer' lol

I can hear the music already! And it doesn't officially start until tomorrow. The forecast for tomorrow morning looks grim! But improving later.

My son has just gone off home to get ready for an early start tomorrow. He so excited he doesn't think he'll be able to sleep tonight! He just has to travel over on the passenger Ferry so it's not too far. He has been for the last two years and says the atmosphere is so great he doesn't care who is playing, he is the one who hogs the front of the main stage for most of the day to get the best view.

We always record the footage and look for him in the crowd. He bought his ticket as soon as they were offered for sale; to see Paul McCartney will be a chance in a lifetime.

I went last year, they have entertainment on the Thursday night for campers who'll be on the site already. Not on the main stage though, just the smaller tents.

I appreciate that. It is also when they get a chance to do soundchecks. It is always much louder on the Thursday than the rest of the time - unless the wind is in the direction towards us. The site is about 2 miles from us with Newport in between.

P!nk will be fantastic as usual. Amazing live performer, I think she will surprise many.
Looking forward to seeing her highlights on TV.

It poured with rain overnight but has stopped now. Lots of wellies will be in use today. The concert went on until 11.30 last evening.

I have revived this thread from 2010. History repeats itself with the festival clashing with the World Cup. England's first match is on at the same time as the Red Hot Chilli Peppers!

On another tack, my grandson's band, Naked Fridays, have once again won Wight Noize which entitles them to a spot on the main stage! They are opening the proceedings on Sunday 15 June at about 11am. They are also headlining on the Thursday on the Platform One stage and, to add to things, they are playing on the Wightlink ferry so that festival-goers get a taste of things to come. They are excited about all this as you can imagine.

No comments on this! We have now found out that Naked Fridays are also playing at Bestival in September. Things are looking up for the lads.
