I Dont Get The Appeal Of Dizzee Rascal
i dont get how Dizzee Rascal is so succesful. All he does is shout out of tune at the top of his voice! You cant understand a word he says and for this he is a huge star being paid millions! If he was unknown and went on The X Factor he wouldnt get past the first audition.

I've not heard Dirtee Disco, but Dizzee Rascal doesn't annoy me too much. He seems like a bit of a cheeky chappie though, not in a bad way. I like the world cup song him and James Corden have done though. Admittedly his music is not what it was, but oh well. I don't get how he has reached Male National Sweetheart in such a short space of time, but good on him. Dance Wiv Me and Bonkers aren't bad songs at all.

He fell off the stage during a gig. This makes him a legend.
Epic. (1:05s) I dunno though. I like Bonkers, it's pretty feel-good and catchy (even my brother likes him, and he's into Guns'n'Roses, Metallica, Slayer, and a load of bands whose names I have forgotten! ). I haven't heard a lot of his stuff though, and I can see why people wouldn't like him, because generally it's just speaking over a beat so fast you can barely understand it.But hey, I like him. |

Not a fan of his genre, but I do think he has talent, and a lot of charisma. I thought he was better around the time he won the Mercury Prize and up to and including Maths + English; he had more of an edge then, musically and lyrically, and yes, you could understand what he said then, most of the time
. Now, it does feel as if he has sold out somewhat, though I don't necessarily blame him. Bonkers and Dance Wiv Me are decent records, but his most recent stuff doesn't impress me, and don't even get me started on the Florence and Corden duet horrors.....

everyone seems to be name checking recent songs and probably don't know that that he's been around for nearly a decade, 2003's Boy In Da Corner is one of the greatest albums of all time for me. I agree though right now he's not all that, he's dumbed down his lyrics to appeal more commercially, he can deny that he's sold out but I think its plain to see that he has, but fairplay to him, he's better than most of the crap in the charts

I don't like him either. He's incredibly annoying and when he performs live he shouts so loud you can't understand a word he's saying.
I am aware he was massively acclaimed when he started out with his first few albums but personally I wasn't interested. But it annoys me how he is absolutely everywhere now, you can't avoid him. I liked his first 2 songs of this 'pop' era for him (Dance Wiv Me and Bonkers) but he has gone downhill since then and his songs are very lazy and boring, I guess that's because he knows that being as big as he is now, he is likely to go to no.1 whatever he puts out (see Dirtee Disco). I remember he was on Jonathan Ross a few weeks ago, and when Jonathan asked him what kind of music he would make next he just said 'Whatever sells, man'. I think that sums up his attitude now - he's not bothered what his songs are like any more as long as they are selling. |

Don't like him either. One of those guys who I don't understand how they have so many hits, but I respect that he has some people who like him too.

I think he's made a few decent catchy singles, but on the whole he's awful! Don't get the love for his live performances either, as others said, he just shouts over the backing track.
Oh and I never rated him, critically acclaimed or not... some of his old material may have had more depth, but the stuff I recall - Jus A Rascal, Sirens, Fix Up Look Sharp - was terrible IMO! |

I actually liked him when he was unknown and actually performed to his more suited genre. But now he has sold out, he is huge and rich, so can't blame him. |

I just find it funny with the people who slag him off as being untalented or 'just shouting over music' when all they've heard by him is the chart crap he's been pumping out lately. Like Biko said, go back to Boy In Da Corner when he has something interesting to say and when the album was released sounded completely alien and unique compared to most other music at that time. Not much else out there sounded like it. Easily one of the best British albums this past decade, and to be honest, yeah, the music he puts out nowadays is rubbish and he is just blatantly just putting it out because it sells but I can't blame him for that. If I was in his shoes I'd do the same and take the cash so fair play to him. He is a talent, just don't expect to witness it if all you're going on is the crap in the charts

How times change indeed. |

The nation has been brainwashed into thinking that Dizzee Rascal, is what we should all be downloading. I don't know how "they" have done it, but it should be stopped!

He made the best Grime album ever with Boy in da corner and rightly won the Mercury Prize for it. I'd like to see people like The Saturdays or Cheryl Cole manage such a feat.
He deserves all the success he is getting IMO. |

Hey ho, life goes on, I won't lose any sleep over it. I heard Dirtee Disco a few days ago and it is agreeably crap. So is Holiday. Dirtee Cash is bearable, and I like Dance Wiv Me and Bonkers and Wannabe, which was a great song IMO. I don't get how people can hate Dizzee Rascal, though. Sure, you might not like his music, but he is always cheerful and smiling, and you've gotta love that whole Kate Moss thing where he told her to "shoo" and "clear off" and she looked really pissed off at him

I loved Dance Wiv Me, Bonkers and Holiday but Dirtee Disco and Shout are two of the worst songs of 2010. Nowadays, anything he does gets no.1
