LOL! It was nothing like our country dancing - Scottish or English!

Check this and this out!
I agree with you. I don't get these dances at all. They don't seem to have any distinctive style and there's nothing countrified about them.
.
Do you not? Not even a teensy bit? .
Not even the tiniest, teeniest subatomic bit I'm afraid.

Lindyhop, Rock & Roll and the Charleston are NOTHING like the standard 10 Ballroom/Latin dances!
I've always found the jive the most ungainly of the 10 dances (I'm told it helps when dancing it if you put yourself in a more childlike frame of mind, and evidently kids do love it). But compared to Lindyhop it is positively graceful!

The Lindy Hops on SCD haven't been the most graceful. I think the slower style, with less aerials would work better. A bit like some of this.

I knew I recognised the music from faskia's clip

- it is the Heineken advert with dancing - but I love the popping ears!

The Lindy Hop done solo is can be very smooth, but lifts can be done smoothly too. The whole thing doesn't have to be jerky and some more casual looking routines are fantastic - loose limbs are the key!

This is one of my favourite clips - so smooth.
