I hope that one of the changes the BBC bring in involves NOT having any singers on the results show........its just got embarrasing that so many people dont want to do Strictly I dont want to have to listen to the likes of Andy Williams again.

I really think you're onto something there... they're all Strictlys bad boys... the rest are a bit nice and from a publicity point of view a little on the bland side.
Funny enough I always thought that Strictly was about the dancing not how many column inches you can get.

If they move timeslots and not clash with X Factor they will get more quality or at least more up to date music acts than last year.

Do you know I never noticed how bad Andy Williams was the first time I watched that routine! I only had eyes for the dancing!

If they're going to carry on having singers, they need to increase their budget dramatically. At one time the results show used to get more viewers than the main show I think... they need to be thinking about pulling in viewers, not just killing time.

I wonder if they will have some other involvement, such as choreography corner on ITT, or even doing the odd bit of presenting as James Jordan did last year. Even better, I'd like to see how they choreograph and rehearse the pro dems. I certainly hope they get a decent slice of the action, and I agree that Vincent & Flavia and the Jordans have dominated a lot of the pro spots in previous years. I'd be happy if these were all done by the 'troupe'. And I wouldn't be surprised if they had at least a couple of other females join.
Could be......... Ian esp is a natural born "anchor" presenter and i think Matt would be a great ITT/backstage addition (Ian as well) ........Matt did some great (and at times very funny) "Strictly Confidential" behind the scenes type stuff for the BBC website last year and if Matt and Ian could incorporate both those things with something choreography based/rehearsal based i'd be up for that together with the pro group routines.

I know this is only a matter of opinion but they both have such engaging personalites off the dancefloor i can't imagine the BBC not wanting to make use of that.

If its all about these other younger guys i've lost interest already

I think there is something in it too but it rather sad if that is the case.

They should have got Derek Hough in if they were looking for column inches

Don't forget the Bennetts... the dance mat contest last year was the funniest thing on ITT all series, as voted for on DS

I quite like this new line up, would have swapped Anton and Matthew round though!
Me too although I don't know much about the three new boys - and a bit worried that one's background appears to be High School Musical, I'm sure he'll prove me wrong. I would also have swapped Anton for Ian.

He could be in the pro group and they haven't announced it yet........or he hasn't said a definate yes yet....

As for pay........i reckon this will be a fee for the pros in the pro/celeb pairing and a fee for the group pros........who knows if the group pros will think its worth it esp if they can't do any other dance demos etc except SCD for 3-4 mths.

Actually gutted about no Brian And it seems daft, they've got rid of, to me, the 5 best professionals...gah.

eta from twitter/facebook: "@Burn The Floor: Brian Fortuna has announced tonight that he will not return to Strictly Come Dancing on BBC TV this season. He has loves the experience and his fans, however he wants to give 100% to his upcoming role in Burn the Floor, with Ali at the Shaftesbury Theatre, London. Ali starts rehearsals on Friday and Brian will join her on Sunday for his first session with Jason Gilkison."

I would assume they might have a bit more spare time for things like that than the competing pros? In which case they might find it worth their while even on reduced pay, as it will raise their profile for those months and increase popularity for outside events.

Of course that depends on the availability of partners... does Ian dance with Natalie outside Strictly, or is he still more with Camilla? Matt would be free to dance with Nicole, Brian seems to be doing events with Ali, and obviously Darren and Lilia are fine.

Aha, I think I'm alone in liking all of the ten standards far more than any of the new additions, but I suppose I'm not losing out if they add any more!.
No you're not. So do I. I think the choice of new dancers seems to indicate that they are moving to being more performance oriented than technical, which will suit the likes of Craig and Bruno as judges. I think the programme is in danger of becoming a bit of a mish mash, in trying to be all things to all people.

Some of the decisions are a bit odd. I love Flavia but although I think she is a great performer, she seems to me to be not such a great teacher, only having had success with Matt (with whom she had an obviously greater rapport). So I would have put her in the dance troupe (although I think Vincent is quite a good teacher and so maybe they didn't want to split them up). Lila and Darren are great teachers, as is Ian.

Even so I do like the idea of seeing Matthew dance properly every week (would it be too much to hope for it being with Nicole) rather than being hampered by a celeb and maybe Matthew, Ian etc will get involved in other aspects such as ITT.

Artem with his possible new dance partner Aliona

DWTS - Rascal Flatts

Matthew is probably in the dance group because Alesha is still on the panel & with Artem coming in Aliona has already dance together before so it makes sense to have them two dance together.

The line up better be good, because at the moment I am out to be honest.

Keeping the crap pros and making the best pros there a troupe - yeap good thinking.

I usually try to keep an open mind and try not to judge the show before hand a la Alesha - but this is just a stupid thing to do.

I think I will be mainly with the X Factor this year

RIP strictly you have singed you death warrant

How can they keep Anton du Beke he is too old his ballroom is even flagging and his and Erins latin is frankly a farce

As for Matt Cutler tell the BBC where to stick the show because that line up with those terrible pros is never going to be a success - what are they going to do get rid of 'proper' ballroom for dreadful american

I am gutted thought the BBC were going to sort it out this year - frankly with the standard of pros - why bother

I don't really agree on Flavia. Jimmy was clearly a dud in terms of Strictly. I don't think either of the two partners she's had recently have been workable, Craig in particular. She hasn't really had someone who could go either way, which is the test.

Please please please!

If it really means the dance group pros will be dancing every week and showcased properly, I'm over the moon about this decision (less so about the insult to the teaching/choreography skills of Darren, Lilia and Ian). I just fear it is not going to be that. I suspect in actual fact the competing pros will be featured as much as ever, and these five just whisked out to make up numbers.

What on earth are the BBC thinking of?!

Matt, Brian, Darren, Ian and Lillia not being part of the competition?

Brian isn't back at all: " Brian Fortuna has announced tonight that he will not return to Strictly Come Dancing on BBC TV this season. Copied from Flavia thread.

I wonder how long the pros have known about this?

Very happy that Brendan is still in SCD - in no way should he be put in the same category as Anton, who I'm very surprised didn't go - Brendan's tour has been excellent and hopefully he can have a good year on SCd. Don't believe all the hype - a lot of his "negative" image is the way the BBC like to portray him - hopefully this year he'll be allowed to concetrate on the dancing!

Would like to swap Matt for Anton though in the lineup

Also the show has been cut by 2 weeks.
Not necessarily - who knows what other changes are in the pipeline? DWTS is only 10 weeks long, but has sixteen couiples.

As for the pro changes, well we knew it was going to be big. The only thing I'm surprised about is Anton is still dancing because I thought he had said he wouldn't be dancing again. This makes me think he could still be in line for Bruce's job in the long run.

I'm happy to wait and see how it all goes.

All my favourites are still involved with the show in some capacity and that's better than losing them altogether. Mind you it says they have been offered roles - that's not the same as accepting them.

Who knows? I might like the new guys!
