I don't think the BBC are trying to finish off SCD. They have precious few successful light ent formats for BBC One, so they're making regular changes to the show in an attempt to prolong its life.

Some changes people will agree with, and some changes people won't, but they're all being made with the best of intentions.

I'm not often one to defend Jay Hunt, but it's to her credit she's trying to prolong the show's lifespan, because light entertainment (and comedy) are not areas where she has any experience or expertise. At least she's making an effort, even if some changes, such as the extended shows, didn't go down terribly well last year.

Making an effort can be many things - not always good.
If they get more viewers, it will be a success for the BBC, so I will have to wait and see if that happens.

My take on it is that the show needed to be improved, not changed.

We still dont know exactly what is going to happen and who will be on the show, so until we get that information, we cant see where exactly they intend to take it. I'm surprised that we haven't had a decision by the non-competing pros yet. Whether they sign or not will colour many people's thinking.
