Thanks!

I like this comment:
"With another collective of imaginative, resourceful and caretaking people making an empty property their temporary home and turning it into something amazing it seriously seems to be time to come up with a new word for what they do."

Yeah I also thought that was a great quote, I'm really interested to see the kinds of things they do now

I followed some links to this: http://www.theapocalypseclub.com/About.html

The part about Keylee:
Quote:
“Keylee-Jade Flanders - Our resident Actress. Nominated for a Young Artist Award in LA, Keylee-Jade has had an extensive acting career across many of the UK’s major broadcasters including BBC. She has been directed by Mike Leigh, Caroline Thompson and Anan Tucker and has acted alongside Emily Watson, Charles Dance, Celia Imry, David Thewlis and Brenda Blethyn. Main influences include; T.S.Eliot, JG Ballard, Juliette Lewis, Fairuza Balk, Kate Winslet and Helena Bonham Carter.”

Fairuza Balk is another "looks like", and I thought she was great in The Craft.

Thread: Shabby is just being Shabby...

It has an very informative OP:
Originally Posted by Hollow_Man:

1)She is really like that in real life (although admittedly her BB entrance was a bit over the top), but she is a little excitable – and wouldn’t you be?

2)She’s always had a quirky dress sense; it changes constantly but would never really be what people consider as ‘the norm’. It’s part of her make-up and makes her who she is. An individual. I know people have said that she’s copying Pete, or Kitten, or Shane from the L Word, but to be honest the only suggest influence I’ve seen that even comes close is the Artful Dodger – a character I believe she’s loved from an early age….and why not? Shabby doesn’t do imitation…it’s not her style…

3)The squatting thing. Okay, so in the papers (and indeed here on DS) people are focusing on calling her a ‘squatter’ and not an ‘actress/musician/filmmaker’. That’s fine, but you have to understand that the group she is involved with do not ‘squat’ in the generally perceived sense of the word i.e. squatter = jobless layabout. They are actually a quite successful and respected Art House. They occupy neglected buildings in the centre of London (of which there are shamefully hundreds). Buildings that could and should be put to better use and not left to rot. They move in and spend at least a week cleaning and tidying before they organise events (often for charity). They put on plays, exhibitions and installations and have been featured in the Evening Standard, The Guardian and Italian Vogue, and more importantly they provide a platform for up and coming artists to show their work – an opportunity many would struggle to find were it not for the art house. Once evicted from a property they then spend another few days clearing up and cleaning and often leave a place looking far better than when they found it! Not your typical squat huh? Moreover, I’ve been fortunate to meet them a few times and in my opinion they’re good people who look after each other.

4)Trust fund / "Daddy’s money" or whatever…Shabby doesn’t have a trust fund. The very idea of it is laughable and she actively dislikes those who do if they then squander the opportunity they’ve been born with as so many seem to do. She’s also not from a rich family. She’s just a freelancer trying to make it in a career she loves and I for one don’t see the problem in that. Freelancing is by no means steady income, so when jobs are thin on the ground she takes a part time job here and there to make ends meet. Having the opportunity to live in the art house means she doesn’t have to worry about rent and she is lucky to be the type of person who doesn’t need the stability of a permanent address or full-time job (I wish I was!). I don’t see why this should be such an issue. She’s not drawing benefits and to my knowledge never has or intends to (not that there’s anything wrong with it anyway). She’s never said that she doesn’t want to work, just that she never wants a ‘normal 9-5’ job, and if that’s the kind of job you’d hate why would you do it if you had another option?

I think it’s sad that we’re so quick to jump on things and judge a person because they choose to live a certain way that works for them, makes them happy and gives them the chance to chase their dreams. But then that’s the nature of the game, particularly Big Brother and these forums.

Of course I’m biased, but Shabby’s a good kid, and once you get through that tough exterior it’s easy to see why. I don’t really know her all that well but what I do see of her tells me that she’s kind, considerate, friendly and dependable, not to mention fun to be around, and I just felt the need to clear things up. (Oh, and while I’m at it she is a girl and always has been).

You can’t expect everyone to like you and to be quite honest why would you want them to? Either she’s your kind of person or she’s not. It’s fine not to like her, just please try not to be too spiteful.

Thanks…I think that’s it…
(wow – that was long – sorry!) ”

Shock horror! Me and Veri like the same 2 housemates (Shabby & Caoimhe) Yay!

Though I also kinda like a few of the others too... which is rare for me (especially over the last few series anyway).

Aye, Shabby is one of the ones I like as well.
There are some quite good songs out there, among the ....not so good.
Is it her singing on these ones?

Actually, I quite like that Corin one as well.
Her accent anyway. Not her eyebrows.

Thread: Shabby's IMDB.

It contains links to IMDB, myspace, etc.

I'm liking the VooDoo Hussy "How'd ya like that" song.

Also search for voodoo hussy on youtube.

Youtube for "How'd Ya Like That".

Shabby, Ife and Caoimhe were fun live earlier this evening, playing 3-person Duck, Duck Goose, then Shabby imitating BB and trying to help Ife to, which turned into playing "Diary Room" with one of them (initially Shabby) hidden under a yellow towel as BB.

Some comments from the WHATM:

She's the most interesting so far for me - I really like her, she's got the potential to be a very good housemate. She does remind be a bit of Sov from the last celebrity series somehow - hopefully she doesn't alienate herself from the others in the same way

I'm copying this from the WHATM because it might help explain why Shabby, Caoimhe and Ife were teary and upset last night:

Anyone would be stressed and irrational in those circumstances. imo”

Shabby is devising an obstacle course, together with Caoimhe and Ife, that they can use for exercise.

At first it was going to be a race, then they decided they'd do it once today, twice tomorrow, etc.

They're doing different things in different rooms, and in the garden.

When they were doing the living room part, Rachael looked at them like they were mad.

One of the things I like about Shabby is the way she keeps coming up with ways to entertain herself rather than waiting around for BB to give them a task - I'm gutted she's been nominated and may be evicted this week.

What are people thinking - nominating Shabby? I think they see her as a threat. I will have to spend lots of money voting for her to keep her in. I love her attitude, kindness and wild side - a true BB star in the making. She isn't a prima donna or playing a BB part. She is a natural zany individual with a big heart. We have to keep her in..

Hopefully she'll win the POV - if not I'm afraid she's toast...

I have to say I would hate to see Shabby go but I cannot see it happening.

She is quirky and entertaining.

I agree with the poster who said above that it was harder for the contestents this year because they didn't know if they were going in for sure.

Caoimhe's family have said she hasn't seen BB for the last two years and won't be able to cope with the monotony of being in the house for so long.

On the one hand I would be happy to see Shabby go so that I don't spend my summer glued to Big Brother... but on the other hand, a summer of Shabby on my TV sounds mightily grand. I find her the most interesting housemate at the moment, none of the others really stand out that much for me!
