I think she is by far the most interesting character in the house and I want her to stay as long as possible so I think all of us who feel this way should vote according to our means and try to keep her in. If she stays I doubt she will be up again so soon. If you can't afford to vote too much then encourage us with upbeat posts.

agreed about this, I just have a bad feeling she'll be going as she doesn't seem to be very popular on here at all. Maybe she can win that task and nominate someone else.

Depending on what they show on the HL's, her reaction to being up for eviction is not going to go down too well, and it's going to take some really bad edit for one of Rachel or Sunshine in order to save Shabby.

She seems to be piling all the blame on to Ben, whereas surely she should know that there must be at least 3 or more others in there who've nominated her...? (Ben, JJ, Mario, Steve & Sunshine all nom'd her).

Of the 3 who are up, I'd prefer Rachael to go, I guess. But we shall see.

I'm posting in here cause the slagging the girl is getting here in DS bothers me, she has amongst other things being criticised for the following;

being middle class and therefore privileged

(envy, and yes I envy the privileged too)

living in a squat
actually an art collective and it sounds to me like they're doing some great stuff for the community and to help other artists.

being a leech

(ie doesn't have a 'proper job' - 9-5,) she doesn't live on the dole, she works, she is committed to her art. Good. It's f.ing hard work being an artist, a labour of love and not always financially rewarding.

Yes she is, she's young, lots of people are at that age, so what? I don't think there is that much wrong with being a bit pretentious, I think it's rather healthy when you're a kid, especially a creative kid. Life in the arts is tough, you have to promote and push yourself, if you want to live off your art that is. Most artists are a bit arrogant and opinionated, I actually think it's important, even necessary to be so, if you don't believe in yourself and your opinions you may as well give up now. British people have a real problem with confidence in others.

Yeah I find her irritating, gobby, and bitchy, and opinionated, if I knew her in real life she would probably irritate the hell out of me, but I also believe I would warm to her, because I think she's basically ok. She is typical of that age and type, intelligent and naive at the same time, a bit dumb even, but I do believe she has a good mind and hope that she stays being who she is, she shouldn't be taken down a peg or two or punished for being a bright young thing. My goodness, if Bob Dylan as a kid was put in the BB house he wouldn't last a week, he was insufferable!

Is it known now who each HM nominated, or are you making a guess?

I'd not be surprised by Ben and JJ, given how Ben's been talking about groups and JJ about the girls, and I'd not be surprised if Mario and Sunshine followed in their wake; but Steve (and not Dave) is less expected.

Anyway, I'm glad to see you've continued to like Shabby.

I've tried to argue her case a number of times but as you say she keeps being criticised for the same things, often really unfairly I think. The hate she's getting on here seems completely disproportional to how bad she's actually been, and she's been very entertaining at times as well.

When I was younger expressing your individuality and personal style was a good thing, I don't know why a love of hats and eyeliner is so frowned upon.

I know she's not taken being nominated very well, but some of the things being posted are a bit extreme.

Thanks Veri and Zutto, I'm not a fan I must say, but she's getting a very unfair 'bashing' IMO. I've just checked out the ARTHOUSE and it looks brill! I think there's a lot of typical English style prejudice here, ironically the alternative types are what make us English. This idea, assumption, that she is a leech is particularly offensive, because she doesn't have a conventional job, she must be a sponger, I know first hand how hard you have to work as an artist, often unpaid and you need other work to supplement your income, which the girl does, so the continual 'she's a freeloader' and all that crap is bllx.

I agree with you Bad Juju, one of the best things about being British is that we are traditionally accepting of many varied lifestyles/choices - I believe we should embrace our differences because without diversity we stagnate.

Yep, and without it we wouldn't have the wonderful art, music, literature, theatre and so on. Another typical British thing IMO though is mean spiritedness, especially these days.

Poor Shabby, the forum is really going for her. A couple of days ago Sunshine was looking dead cert for first evictee but today there's barely a mention of her.

I don't like how needlessly, floridly spiteful some people feel the need to be. It's fair enough disagreeing with her actions, but extending it to talk about her being a dirty squatter, unoriginal talentless faux-artiste, middle class hypocrite, etc. is further than we should go.

It's like when an overweight HM is popular, fat jokes become nasty, unpleasant, unnecessary, and so on - but as soon as said HM loses favour with the audience, fat jokes are let loose and become hilarious again.

Hit the nail on the head here for me, this is the worst thing about it. If people don't like her because of the personality she has shown in the house, that's fine, but so much of it is criticising how she chooses to live her life, or how she dresses. I think what she does sounds quite fantastic, and yeah it's unconventional but how bloody boring and soulless would the world be if there weren't people doing things like this. To have so many people just writing it off as sponging and leeching is truly awful.

Hi Aleksis and thanks, yep all the prejudice and class envy is coming out. I hold my hand up to a bit of class envy myself, but crikey Shabby really is getting a hard time. Do check out the art collective she is a part of, it looks really good!
