I've given them a listen but I wasn't grabbed by them.

For me, no.

I saw them in Blackpool a few weeks ago supporting Florence and the Machine and thought they were pretty dire. On record they sound quite 1980s and electronic, a little like New Order in a way, but live they're more guitar-based. I wasn't struck by them at all, and am surprised by all the hype.

All subjective really, because I rather like the album. Saw them supporting Florence and a couple of their tracks caught my attention. The album's hardly ground breaking, but it's a fun, indie-pop record.

I checked them out because of the hype and because at the moment I'm quite into bands with a 60s surf rock/pop sound. So I thought I might like them. But I was disappointed. To me they sound like a poppy, very watered-down Jesus and Mary Chain-meets-Beach-Boys-Tribute Band.

Haven't seen them live so can't comment on that.

Best Friend is probably my favourite from the album.

I saw them on the NME tour a while ago, thought they were pretty good but it felt like I'd heard it all before - like a bunch of american kids who've just discovered 80s indie music. A few stand out songs though.

Not bothered getting the album yet (which I suppose again shows that I wasnt that excited by them) but I probably will do. The reviews I've seen have been fairly mediocre so I'm not sure that everyone really is saying they're that good, but maybe I don't read the right music press.

They featured quite high up in that BBC Sound of 2010 poll didn't they. I don't read music press as such but I do always try to check out the people on that list every year, and there are always ones who are tipped highly but don't live up to the hype (Joe Lean and the Jing-Jang-Jong anyone?? No I thought not..)

It's early days yet for The Drums and obviously they do have their fans and I don't like writing bands off too soon because sometimes they do grow on me.

They're aren't really appealing to me, despite the media attention they have been getting. Not to mention the NME heavily promoting their every move!

"Let's Go Surfing" is the only track I've heard from them. Downloaded it free from iTunes and liked it initially, but it soon started to grate.
