I've been listening to all three Kasabian albums and it made me wonder who from this present day and age would be remember 10,20,30 years from now.

I believe Kasabian and Arctic Monkeys are likely to be remembered in the future.

I'd also put Coldplay in this category although it seems they do have their detractors there is no doubting their popularity.

None of them have been faultless Kasabians second album was critically panned, Humbug wasn't received well for the Arctic Moneky's whilst Coldplay are regarded as a bit dull.

Lady Gaga is the only artist atm I can see ending up as a 'legend' on a Kylie or Madonna scale tbh. I like loads of others, it's just only Gaga I can see lasting

Radiohead for sure. Muse probably.

The reason Coldplay have a lot of detractors is because it's not seen as 'cool' to like them and a lot of people don't like Chris Martin. They are much more appreciated in America than here.

Coldplay just couldn't live up to their first 2 albums imo, that's why people lost interest.

I knew it would only be a matter of time before someone mentioned Lady Gaga.. I personally don't think she'll be around in 10 years time, her music isn't strong enough to be regarded as timeless, its just very "for the moment".kind of music

i think in this day and age Radiohead are already regarded as legends whether people like it or not.

I think in terms of artists from the last decade I think Muse have to be up there, again Coldplay will be up there and Eminem

The Strokes could regain popularity with their next record

If Arctic Monkeys can pull something out of the bag next time around then they could be.. same goes for Kings Of Leon and The Killers

those with an outside chance M.I.A, Kanye West, Dizzee Rascal (although he really needs to put some creativity back into his music)

I think if Interpol do well with their new album then people may go back and listen to their previous albums and realize how good they are, much like what happened with Kings Of Leon a couple years ago

Kasabian are going from strength to strength

With an artist like Gaga, it's very hard to tell if she'll last. I hope she will, she's making great pop music, but I think it's too early to tell.

Kanye West. He already thinks he is one
I'm not sure about GaGa, but you never know.

Lady GaGa (Massive and easily the most creative person out there atm)
ColdPlay (Don't personally like them but they are huge, i wouldn't underestimate them becoming even bigger)
N-Dubz (If they crack the rest of the world and Dappy bucks up he's idea and stops being a **** before people give up on them)
Miley Cyrus (Just have that feeling that she is always gonna be around and as she has growing with her fans, i uess tehy will stick around)
Rihanna (She hasn't got the originality or wrting skills to become as massive as Madonna but she could easily be like britney)
Shakira (yes she has been around for 16 years but in the UK she came in 2001ish, and she has albums packed full of tunes)
Sugababes (Not for the fact that thier music is good but because of the line up changes, people in 10, 20 yars will be going oh you got a new member, they did a sugababes)

Beyonce, definitely. I think she'll be remembered for years, and when I'm old I'll be telling my grandkids all about her and teaching them the Single Ladies routine

Lady Gaga maybe, as a Britney type (without the breakdown). Hard to tell with her.

In terms of voices, Leona Lewis, Christina Aguilera and Beyonce for sure I think of them as our version of the vocal trinity.

Also agree about Coldplay, maybe add Oasis too (if only for their childish arguments haha)

Don't think any of those apart from Coldplay will be considered a "legend" in 20 years time.. N Dubz is just laughable. I don't want ANOTHER argument about Lady Gaga on this board, but the most creative person out there?? I can think of far more creative artists

N-dubz? Really or is this a wind up. I mean you may be a fan and there are artists that I am a huge fan of that I'd like to throw in but I know time probably won't look back on them as proper legends! As for Gaga I don't rate her but if she can create another two successful and fresh albums she'll probably go down as a legend and I don't mean a deluxe deluxe version of Fame Monster 3 either!

How about Jonsi/Sigur Ros? I hope so anyway.

I think they could, they could be as big as the black eyed peas, just need to sort out dappy and stay together.

Oasis are legends, to me anyway.
When Oasis is considered in a typical setting, what is usually covered most is drug interests and in-band fighting which has nothing to do with the music and quality of songwriting. These incidents while interesting in the moment, will fade away with the aging of a band, and any form of creativity in general. When these “incidents” fade, all that will be left is the band’s creative output, and when new generations uncover this goldmine of songs, Oasis will more respected as one of the hallmark bands in this history of pop music.

Kasabian- never will be
Coldplay- possible, but they don't really have that 'spark'.
Radiohead- will still be talked about in 30 years.
Muse- will be seen as a great band, maybe more.

I don't think anyone is going to argue with that, this threads about artists who aren't quite considered legends yet but are pretty much on the road to becoming legends or on the cusp.

Having said that I more of a Blur man myself although that doesn't stop me from enjoying Oasis

I'd say the only "big" legends would be Britney and Eminem, Beyonce, Robbie, Rihanna, Coldplay and Black Eyed Peas. Possibly Alicia Keys and Michael Buble as well.

I still feel Gaga is short tem.

Out of all you've listed I'd only say Robbie Williams (poor mans Cliff Richard), Eminem and Beyonce.

No I honestly think there are more poeple that hate the band than like them. So they aren't really legends yet, although Definitely Maybe is still riding high in music polls 16 years on so who knows.

Blur will/do have more of a legendary status than Coldplay.

Oasis will definitely go down as legends of some sort, within the Brit Pop era. Not a fan myself, but I don't doubt they will retain some iconic status.

It's strange to think who will be the legends of our generation. I class a legend, musically, as someone like Bowie, so I think it's hard to imagine artists from modern music being called legends. ...if you know what I mean.

Sorry if that makes no sense

Eminem.
Sorry to all the Beyonce haters, but she is a fantastic singer and entertainer and I can't see why she can't become a legend someday, especially since Britney most likely will be.
Christina Aguilera is another person I would add to my list.

I think Radiohead are a complete lock and the most obvious candidate. (although not a fan)

You can't compare anyone with Bowie, in fact Bowie being described as a Legend is a understatement!

Of course. By far one of the most creative bands of the past 10 years. Love them.
