No - they are a separate company so just because O2 decides something to do with the tariffs they are offering does not mean that MVNO's who use O2 (even if they are owned by O2) have to do the same. The head of giffgaff had
this to say about O2's decision and whether giffgaff would be following suit or not.

No it doesn't - I did try to explain this yesterday! The Free internet promotion was a) not unlimited (there was a 100MB / day FUP), and b) was always only going to be running for months from giffgaff's launch (and in fact got extended by an extra month).
giffgaff's unlimited internet (which is truly unlimited, tethering aside) is part of their goodybag monthly bundles, and those still are and still will be unlimited - see the link above which explains a bit more. Perhaps the most important bits are these:
Quote:
“So will we change the unlimited data allowance in our goodybags? The answer is we might, but not because O2 have just done so or because they are our ultimate owners. The announcement yesterday about ending unlimited iPhone data was a surprise to me and no one from O2 has called today to suggest that we should follow suit. And that’s exactly the way it should be because giffgaff was set up specifically to be able to act independently to O2...
...At the moment we don’t have any plans to change anything but at the same time we can never say never. All we can do is promise that if we do need to change anything then we’ll give our members plenty of notice, be fair and clear about the way we price our products and try to deliver the best value we can.”
