Have you bought a high power battery for your mobile?

One of the things that's clear from this forum is that battery life can be an issue, e.g. with the iPhone, HTC Desire, etc.

I've noticed that there are a number of companies now offering high power mobile batteries on Amazon and Ebay for popular mobile models which replace the original manufacturer-supplied battery.

Has anyone ever tried one of these batteries and do they work? I suppose the only downside is that they might invalidate any warranty.

Hi

Have changed in the battery in my year old 5800-was 1300.. and is now 1900... It does last longer than previously even when the phone was new. I left the original on charge overnight, every night. The new one will last a couple of days of moderate use, but will empty quickly if I stay connected to wi-fi for a few hours.

Thank you, ChrisHay. That is exactly what I was looking for and in this case it looks like the more powerful battery has made a useful, practical difference. I think it unfortunate that the manufacturers cannot supply these better batteries in the first place.

i had a htc touch dimond, and found the battery life very poor, i brought a bigger battery (with a bigger back cover) and it done the trick, it lasted longer. It was an offical battery so I assume it would not make any diffrance to the wantery.

I've just bought one off ebay claiming to be "extended life". Total junk. It doesn't last as long as the standard nokia battery.

I've given up on the higher capacity battery I bought.

Oh it performs well enough - well over a couple of months of high usage. I just found it really inconvenient to have to pull around the handcart with what looks very much like a car battery on it. The trailing connecting cables don't help. usability either.

I know it's fake. Nobody ever claimed it was genuine. I didnt really expect a genuine Nokia battery for £3... my point was that it was a crap fake.

I've had spare batteries off ebay that were perfectly adequate. It might be 'fake' but that doesn't mean it's not a battery that works!

Rather than spend a lot on an extended battery, just get a spare normal capacity and switch during the day. You can usually get dock stands that will charge your phone and the spare at the same time.
