Help! BT Vision picture quality is AWFUL.
HELP!
A few questions - I have just bought a brand new 23" Samsung 2333HD ready monitor/TV (for the kitchen). (Digital ariel lead to the Vision box, ariel lead to the TV). When I plugged it in, the internal TV freeview receiver auto-tuned itself and for an SD transmission, the picture looked stunning (BBC1). (Could not get the V box picture, only the TV's internal freeview signal). When I then connected the TV to my Vision box via a HDMI cable a message flashed up stating 'this connection is not supported'. Err, why? When I then connected the box to the TV via a scart lead, the picture was AWFUL! (all channels). Half the quality of the TV's freeview picture (if that). Why? Went to watch sky sports news on freeview and the picture quality was poor. Watched it via v-box and it was even worse, awful. Blocky squares and all that. Went to watch ESPN via the box and the quality was even worse than sky sports news! Why is the picture via the Vision box a hell of a lot worse than just using the monitors intenal freeview? HELP! |

You didn't mention that you changed the display settings. Sounds obvious but have you tried that ? Change the settings to HDMI - either 720 or 1080.
Picture quality is normally superb. |

Problem fixed.
Problem fixed.
I rang BT technical help and they did indeed help me. To activate the HDMI input/output connection you have to go to 'TV settings' and select 'aspect ratio' (bizarre I know). Then you select the screen resolution you want. I choose 1080i. Job Done! Picture now MUCH improved. |

scotty2808 is spot on.
some TV's don't like certain devices in 576p over HDMI (ED = Enhanced Defenition) so it seems as though it's failed. As scotty says, once you enable 720p or 1080i the HDMI kicks in properly and most TV's then display a super picture. mine was very fuzzy/jagged till i turned the sharpness down. it seems only a small handful of phillips TV's still hate BT vision now. every other TV works fine. Glad you are sorted Masona. have you given the HD & Surround sound test Video a whirl? its free and can be found in Films > most watched > HD > HD & Surround Test. this will give a more accurate test of how good the vision output is. Hope this helps also. |
