Dara O'Briain - new You're Fired host!

Couldn't see a thread for this, so I thought I would create one.

What do you think of Dara O'Briain as the new "You're Fired" host?

I think he's an excellent choice, Adrian Chiles was quite good but I'm sure Dara can match him and he's always a good laugh on MTW.

That'd be nice for Dara - what with Konnie Huq getting married to Charlie Brooker 'n all.

Yes, Dara will be excellent actually. He's not my favourite comedian by a long shot, but he is very, very good at hosting duties.

I loved Adrian on the show, but Dara will be great too!

Great choice... already looking forward to this.
Like the quote..."I'm delighted to be stepping into the chair for this," O'Briain said. "As a comedian, I've spent my entire career asking people, 'What do you do for a living?'

"It can't be too much of a stretch to add the words 'now that you know you're not getting this job' at the end of the question."

Poor Dara.

I was wondering who they were gonna get to replace chiles. Excellent choice.

Really excellent choice, very pleased, it'll freshen up the show nicely, and although I did like Chiles in the role, I'm thinking I'm likely to prefer Dara

Brilliant choice I think he will fill Chile's shoes nicely.

I'm surprised with this, but very, very pleased. I think he's smart, observant and quick witted on Mock the Week and if he's half of that on Your Fired, it will be great.

Great choice. Chiles was too fond of really obvious lame jokes.
Dara is far sharper.

For once looking forward to 'You're Hired', cos when Sugar comes on, we'll see 'Mohammed' having to go to the 'mountain'.

Looks like Dara forget to tell Charlie "not to mess with the Huq"

Seems like a good choice to me, Dara seems naturally funny and able to make jokes up on the spot ..... let's hope we get some good contestants

Yep, that's one of his key strengths!

Yeah I'm happy with Dara, I thought he does a good job hosting Mock the Week.

Dara has a good balance of not overtaking the show nor going over the top compared to those other irritating "comedians" over on Ch4.

Agree.

He also shows he can be a little more serious in those Three Men In A Boat programmes.

Good choice of host.

Wow, not often you find a thread about a new host for an existing show that is unanimously in favour and happy with the choice.

I'm almost tempted to spoil the love-in, but I also think Dara is a great choice and I'm really looking forward to watching.

Fantastic choice. Dara will bring it to a whole new level especially with the ones who make arses of themselves or are far too cocky. I predict so many laughs ahead ! Can't wait.

With all this approval, I really hope Dara doesn't disappoint!

I'm really pleased. I think Dara is great and as others have said, his quick wit should stand him in very good stead.

I quite liked Adrian Chiles but Dara will be a fantastic replacement.

Quite weird actually - Dara used to be the regular team captain on an Irish panel show called 'Don't Feed the Gondolas'. The other regular captain, Brendan O'Connor, hosts the Irish version of 'You're Fired'. Just a bit of trivia...

Great choice. He'll have the right up-beat tone. In his stand-up gigs he spends a lot of time talking to the audience, making it funny without being unduly cruel. He has the approach that every audience member is awesome. That will stand him in good stead with failed candidates on You're Fired.

I think Dara will be ok as host . He is clever and can go on a bit but I hope he'll adapt to being host/presenter and leave the Apprentice and panel have most of the limelight.

Was just thinking that the other day. Hope he doesn't take over a bit. I know lots of comedian would do just that, but I've seen him present on Irish TV and he really does have good instincts as a host, knowing when to joke and when to ask questions.

Dara is really good choice imo. So weird to see mass approval of someone on digital spy
