Roaming with the Desire
Is there anyway to get the email/calender/contacts working over wifi when roaming with the data services turned off? Internet worked fine through safari as did other internet apps, but the 'in-built' stuff would not work.
Or is it safe to turn data services on when connected to wifi? (I need to be sure that it won't start using 3G) |

If roaming is disabled, it simply won't try to initiate a data connection, so it is safe to leave data aervices and background syncing on - it will just do so when you are in a wifi zone.

If you have your apps set to update - say every half hour - and the data's off and you are not in a WiFi area they won't update obviously....
So when you do get into a WiFi hotspot and the phone picks up a connection would it recognise that the last scheduled update didn't happen and force an update or would you have to hope that you happen to wander into a WiFi hotspot when an update is due? |
