Cleaning the board is not a work around, it removes the problem that causes the clock to stop in STANDBY. If you read the thread you'll see people have used various cleaning agents, try it.

Hmm not worked for me......just spotted mine has no clock in standby...took it apart, nothing looks wrong at all but happy to try the clean method, and made no difference for me either as yet. My 9200 came in the first week so its not done too bad as this is the only issue ive had to date. Seeing as the display is burning out i'm thinking of a replacement now....but read that some are having isues with that too..

Is it just an email to Humax to order the clock unit

As far as I'm aware you're the first to report not being able to get the clock going, apart from the people who didn't actually have the clock problem. Can you confirm that you are getting --:-- (dash dash colon dash dash) on the right hand side of the display in STANDBY.

Try Humax Customer Technical Support for a new board 0844 669 8800, cost about £30.

Yep. maybe one in 10 power ups i get the clock, less from standby. I went to task on it last night with the sonic toothbrush....nothing to lose i figured and clock was there then, i've let it auto standby and this am i have clock....but then ive had that on and off anyway.

Maybe mine didnt need tls but bruse force. It was as clean as can be inside, got nothing on the swabsat all, and some very neat compnent placement and soldering on my unit. Lets see how it does....maybe im not an excetion after all

Mine's still going fine since following the Big-les instructions in September 2011.

I don't like the toothbrush approach but if it's worked for you... The area between the chip, crystal and to some extent under and around the super capacitor are the most important areas to clean, unfortunately a toothbrush is not the best tool for these areas.

Ya point taken..but after 4 goes at the the begining of the week and maybe as many again a few days later as everyone else was getting results and with not a thing on the buds and also no fix it was a bit of do or die job - lol

I was more surprised that there was almost no dust in the unit at all...

Just given this a go - got through about 8 cotton buds while cleaning it, disgusting! First clean failed, tried again, second clean failed also, but no additional dirt came up on the buds this time around.

Will leave it a few days before trying again, as i've just cracked open a beer and stuck it back together in time to record terminator salvation.

One reason for the cleaning process not working is not actually having the clock problem in the first place. Check that you have --:-- (dash dash colon dash dash) on the right hand side of the display when the 9200 is in STANDBY.

Yep definatley dash dash colon dash dash. First appears on the left when placed into standby, moves to right hand side approx 5 seconds afterwards. Not sure if I've put the ribbon cable back in properly. Now terminator salvation is over will open the box up again and take another look.

--:-- never apears on the left, that is ----. If ---- apears on the left for only 5 seconds then it sounds like you're not using the latest software version but that's another story and nothing to do with the clock problem.

Hmmm, ok. I will put the unit back together and confirm the software, although i'm pretty sure it's a *.23 , and I believe it's autoloader 4.07. Any pointers would be appreciated?

FWIW,
clock board is 020-2780 A.2, MF140455701698
Motherboard is 010-2928 B.3 MC130353301489

Just stripped it down again - i'd missed a bit at the top of the "super capactor" between the black casing and the metal work. Powered it up, put it back into standby and it worked fine, even though it's still showing ---- on the left when first placed in standby.

Confirmed sw version 23, autoloader 4.09, PVR9200T version 1.0

That's normal whilst saving/loading the EPG to HDD cache during shutdown and startup with firmware V1.00.23.

That doesn't matter, it's the board surface you need to concentrate on, especially in the area of the connections to pin 1 of the chip. That is the area between the chip, crystal and supercapacitor.

Ok, will have yet another go. Either this Contact cleaner is leaving something behind, or permanent damage has been done

Thanks Big Les. I have just fixed my 9200T using your method. I did not think it would work because the pcb looked immaculate, like new with no trace of residue on it but I cleaned it anyway and it now works. Thanks very much. I am glad I don't have to replace it.

It's not what you can see, it's what you can't see that's the problem. I don't think I've ever said that it was muck that had to be cleaned off but glad you're sorted.

Hello all, I have just read an old post from Big Les which sounds very feasable to me so I will be giving it a go tomorrow. My Humax box is pretty old now but as this is not for my main tv ( I am now on Humax Satbox.), I have little to lose. I will report back when the job is done.

With all the success stories a bit more than feasible me thinks.

Hello all,
ok Big Les, my apologies! I have cleaned up my circuit board with surgical spirit, I cleaned it all as I could not find any numbers beginning with 9. It took one and a half hours to do and I can only say THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
Works fine and happy to say records ok as well.
