I have heard of SERIES and PROG CRID's and understand how they work to provide series link facilities and alternative/repeat program scheduling but just noted the following CRID info for Big Brother on channel 4 tomorrow (12th Jun) at 9:45:-

PROG CRID: www.channel4.com/48253/006
SERIES CRID: www.channel4.com/C4030030523162120223
RECOM CRID: www.channel4.com/48257/004
RECOM CRID: www.channel4.com/50328/070
RECOM CRID: www.channel4.com/48253/001

Does anyone know what the RECOM CRID's are and how they work?

A quick look at the other Big Brother series links appear to show that the 48253 number is common across the channel 4 showings and 50328 is the number for Big Brothers Little Brother on channel 4 and E4. Not sure about the 48257 number though?

Curious

It maybe for use when a programme trail is broadcast and the offer to make a recording/watch reservation. i.e. like on sky where you can press the green button. Whether this is a feature we could loook forward to on freesat or Channel 4 have just inadvertently made the crid numbers visible on the freesat platform by mistake when they should just be available for sky.

It is recommendations, a feature that may be supported in future models but the system was designed after the original freesat architecture so it isn't supported in present designs. Personally I don't think it is a great loss, but I am sure it will make its way into future products.

Agreed

Interesting why channel 4 included them if no Freesat product currently uses it. Probably just a mistake

My Freeview HD box has this feature but at the moment only works with the BBC.

I have only tried it once (night before last) when a advert for the up and coming one of drama about John Lennon came on.

A logo comes up in the corner (similar to the red button) that says “book now” press green.

This item has not been given a transmission date yet so it just sits in the schedule causing confusion.

Further more I assume it will be in HD so when the programme does get a slot it will probably record the SD version.

I usually scan the TV rags at the start of the week to see if there is anything worth recording and can’t see this changing.

Think this is out-of-date information Bob_Cat. I have just set Russel Brand to record on channel 4 next Saturday night and it offered me the chance to record recommended programs. I haven't tried the option yet however I have noted that it only appears to work on single programs. Series that have RECOM CRID's attached to them do not give the option of recording recommended programs
