I just can't stop listening to it. Amazing version, wonderfully sung. Definitely the best cover of any Muse song I've ever heard, does Matt Bellamy proud. Anyone know what Matt thinks of Adam's version?

I think that Matt actually wrote it and then didnt want to release it as a Muse song so kind of donated the song to him. So Im sure that Matt is all in favour of Adams version.

I do prefer Matts voice, though Adam does a pretty decent job of this

I see you have had to add your usual anti Adam comment.

I do not think he screams here

Love Muse, great band ruined by Bellamy's appalling voice

So this sounds like a match made in heaven to me

And this coming from a Justin Bieber fan, obviously you are not old enough to appreciate a true artist who will still be around long after the latest tweenie fad.

You make it sound like he was a replacement singer or something. And appalling? Really?

Showbiz/OOS days he was pretty whiney, which was a bit annoying, but I think his voice has really matured since Abso and sounds great these days.

Why do people have to compare?

Surely by listening to the track you can appreciate the way Adam's voice complements the arrangement? And he admits he is very theatrical, so I think this song was made for him.

Although it's not my favourite track of his, I still love his voice and how he can carry so much feeling across. How many artists these days are so multi-talented and can adapt to different styles and tempos?

Adam is fantastic....... end of

I've loved this song ever since I heard the Muse demo for it which was circulated when it was known that Adam had been given the song for his album.

I really liked Matt's version and I also love Adam's version .. especially when he sings it live

One of the best versions (for me for you dawg) is his live session for AOL

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8qsNMgLo7Q

but there again I appreciate that Adam isn't going to be to everyone's taste so not everyone is going to like his version (*waves at our resident Adam hater Arsene* ... lol*)

Adam's been a fan of Muse for a long time .. he covered "Starlight" as part of his set on the AI Summer Tour last year and he actively promoted Muse's album on his Twitter page before he was connected to Soaked ..... so I bet he was over the moon to be offered the track for his album ....... plus seeing as Matt doesn't give his songs to anybody to cover I presume that he was more than happy for Adam to have this one

If I remember rightly Adam was supposed to go to one of the Muse US gigs a while ago but he couldn't as he was unwell (I remember he tweeted about how p*ssed he was that he had to miss it)

You have made it fairly obvious that you don't like Adam Lambert, his voice or anything about him.

But as Diamond said.. not everyone's taste.
Adam was very awed that Muse gave him this song and I think he does a pretty good job with it.

someone else's track again?

not sure what you mean about this ...... none of the tracks on his album have been previously recorded and released by any other artist prior to him ........ yes he has songs written on the album by a number of other artists (Pink, Gaga, Muse, Justin Hawkins) but none of them were released by those artists .... and surely, unless an artist has written a song themselves then the songs they are singing are "someone elses tracks" or aren't specifically theirs unti they record and release them ....... plus Adam has actually written/cowritten about 5 tracks on his album himself so he's not in the habit of singing "someone elses tracks"

Pink has included Whatya Want From Me on her current tour set list and announced that it's a song she wrote but she found a guy who can sing it far better than her .. so I don't think she has any objection fo him screaming over her track ..... and from what we gather Gaga and Justin Hawkins are very happy with what he's done with the songs they wrote .. Justin even wanted to put Adam's version on his myspace but there was some myspace/music legality that prevented it (he blogged about it in the early days when the album was released)

Bieber and everybody else>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Lambert.

At least Bieber can get a hit, sellout concerts unlike Adam who took the best part of 3 weeks to sellout a casino gig in the US most populated state. David Cook sold out in 14 mins.

Adam is currently on a sold-out tour of the States after scoring major success with his debut album For Your Entertainment, is a revelation on Twitter and is preparing to launch an assault on the UK charts with his new single Whataya Want From Me?

This thread's gone a bit childish. I don't understand why, if you're not a fan of this artist, you bother to even post. Let people discuss it without winding them up.

All I know is that I like Adam's album track and love his live performances of it. I have never heard it sang by Matt, although he has an awesome voice and I would probably like it as well.

In general, I think that Adam's album is good, but from watching videos of his US tour, it doesn't match the brilliance of his live performances.

well said ... I'll admit I'm a big Adam Lambert fan, but don't expect everyone else to feel the same way and I like discussing his music/career both the positives and negatives in a reasonable manner ... but this type of thing happens with practically every thread on DS about Adam (outside of his appreciation thread) .. and it's the same catalyst all the time

Interesting that on Adam's current tour he sings a way more stripped down version of Soaked than is on the album .. it's cut short and doesn't appear to have the heavier rock segments included

here a good video from his recent Wilkes Barr gig

it's such a great song with lovely lyrics and I really like the emotion Adam puts into performing it

Sales and commercial success don't = quality.

Bieber isn't an artist. He's a little boy that has barely started puberty who insists on singing "shawty" in his songs. CRINGE! His songs lack any soul, meaning and depth.

Adam, on the other hand, conveys and feels the passion in every song he sings. Yes he's theatrical but when has that ever been a bad thing? Theatre is a form of art afterall.

I don't think Adam is struggling to sell but even if he was, nobody can take away his talent and artistry. Bieber, however, is laughable...no offence.

Appalling? Really?

He's one of this generations best singers at the moment. You might not like his particular style, which is fair enough, but you can't say he is appalling when he is one of the few rare singers in the world right now with such superb vocal control.

S you can't really love Muse if you don't like Matt. He makes up a lot of Muse (vocals, songwriter, lead guitar, piano and keyboards)....

Duh? Muse are a great band, I agree, but Matt Bellamy's voice is much of what makes them great. Not really sure what you would be left with if you took him out of the equation?

In all fairness, you'd be left with a f**king fantastic bass player, and a brilliant drummer. But I agree, Matt is what gives Muse that magic spark.

In response to OP, I think Adam Lambert sings this song beautifully.

Presume Muse/Bellamy would not have given him this song unless they thought he would make a decent job of it and they could have checked out his voice and Starlight cover beforehand.

Was not trying to detract in any way from Wolstenholme and Howard just to say they wouldn't be a band. I don't think they would really be Muse if you removed any one of them.
Even people who don't always like Matt's voice/style can surely admit his ability?
