Hello

My son has been given a iphone 3gs, its on an 02 network at the moment, but he has a vodafone contract. Is there anyway to unlock the phone to any network?

I went to a shop today that said they could unlock it, but after having the phone for a few hours, they then decided that it was impossible.

My son has looked at various youtube videos but cannot unlock it, i've googled and although lots of suggestions I havent a clue where to start...

so, is it possible? and if so could I do it? and where do I start?

Thanks

O2 will unlock it, for free if it's a contract phone, £15 if it's PAYG.

And if you don't have an O2 PAYG SIM you can just get one, top it up to £15, and then use that (the £15 unlocking fee will be deducted from the PAYG balance). You may just need to use the SIM in the phone a couple of times (just make a couple of calls to your house phone, for example - but just let it ring a couple of times and hang up rather than actually answer it - otherwise you'll use some of the PAYG balance of course! It's just so O2 can see the SIM has been used in the phone.
