Good to see Jonsi getting a mention. Absolutely adore him, and his partner Alex.

Definitely think they should have included Owen Pallett, though!

Will at No.4 is about right. However, why do you think he is "related to royalty"? As far as I know he isn't and I have been a fan for years. He can count some exceedingly minor royals as friends but it has never been said that he is related to them.

He's not related to Royalty. I think he shared a flat once with the daughter(?) of the Duke of Gloucester or someone who knew her..... Also, Will won the first series of Pop Idol (not the X Factor!) and it was mentioned that Elton's wife of the female gender was Australian. Forgive me if I am wrong but I thought that Renata was German.

Not a jot I'd agree but a recent comment on one of Will's vids on youtube was as follows:

"I'd like this song if it wasn't for the fact he's gay"

Kind of sad ain't it? So maybe these lists are a balance to that kind of attitude.

You should see thje Queen Vids then, Some of those comments are truly disgusting. Now im a Straight male who loves Rock and Heavy Rock, Queen are one of my fave bands as are Judas Priest. Now I dont care if the lead singers are Gay their songs just ROCK.

This reminds me of when Will came out and people on some forums said he chose to be gay! Example: "Today I think I'll have blue eyes"!

"Will is a nice, clean, loving young man, vaguely related to British royalty, winner of the UK’s X Factor, and consequently, a big star in the UK."
Oh really... I didn't know X Factor existed before 2004, unless I was living under a rock.

You would've thought they could at least get it right that he was from Pop Idol!

I genuinely didn't know the guy from, How I met Your Mother, was gay! I was shocked. Apart from that, a good list, although I would have put Adam Lambert top Good to see gay people in music are getting recognition, I didn't realise there were so many. Are there any lesbian lists around... I could see Goldfrapp coming near the top.

Neil Tennant should be in there! Things like this often seem to ignore the Pet Shop Boys' enormous contribution to music over the last 25 years. Judging by the acts listed, it looks like this list is American, which partly explains it. I'm amazed Freddie Mercury's not in it either though.

Actually, why isn't Freddy Mercury on the list? That's a travesty.

Come to think of it, if they've having Sam Sparro, massive Scissor Sister overrepresentaion (they're awesome, but was 3 members really necessary?) and some West End lad at no. 20, then Judas Priest's lead vocalist (Rob Halford?) could have got in as well.

I agree that it's a pointless list, but I don't see why that should stop me having opinions about it.

fantastic list!! some i actually painfully admit to not knowing what they did, but have favourited their list and will give their music a go.

Freddy Murcury should be there!! Musical genuis from one of the best bands ever!! and of course Neil Tennant as previous have mentioned (even though i only like a few PSB songs!)

but yeah thanks for the forum guys!! i am so glad more LGBT musicians are being recognised and shows it's not sexuality that matters it's what material you release and how you make people get to the dancefloor or feel emotion!! and be they gay or straight that doesn't matter, it's the material that matters!

but thank you for this forum, gonna give myself a schooling with each of then Will Young's recent work is actually okay but am not a fan really.

would love a lesbian list in the future too, Linda Perry would be #1!!! love her work with Christina and her 4 Non Blondes work is fantastic too!

Ah, but have you seen him singing live at a concert or festival? Completely different to his TV appearances for some unexplained reason. And fantastic!

OK... maybe this shows up my age, but I'd be struggling. Including bi as well, btw.

k.d. lang, of course... Melissa Etheridge... Beth Ditto... Nenah Cherry (bi)... Alicia Bridges... Lady GaGa (claims she's bi - but then, she would, wouldn't she ?)... if you're talking back in the day, then Janis Joplin (bi, and not fussy either)... Lesley Gore... Dusty Springfield... Kate Pierson (bi)... Jane Weidlin (allegedly bi)...
