Can you help me with my Bush TV please?
DavidT

Not sure which is the appropriate board.

Any way I have acquired a Bush 145TV/A TV/DVD combi unit. I have two problems. Firstly I need a remote control. Having searched I can find several 141T models which look the same but no mention of the 145T. Can anyone track it down please. I'm after a user manual as well but I also can't find the official Bush site.

Second problem is when I put a DVD in I get a message saying "no disc". Doesn't matter how many different disc's I try the message is the same. I'm assured it was working fine (and in this case I do believe that). It attempts to spin and then stops and then says "no disc".

Actually i think you are perfectly capable of posting this here since there is no board for this type of topic!

I'll ask my friend about your problem when he phones me tonight! He is really good at this type of stuff

Thanks! I'm puzzled I can't find the model anywhere yet.

You don't download it. You ring them up & buy it from them, then they will post it to you.

ps. instead of finding the original remote, get a cheap replacement from ebay for about £5 - do a search for 'universal remote control'

Not good then must be a free one somewere

I thought of a universal but I think I need the remote to set up the channels as it doesn't appear to be automatic, that's where the user guide would help!.

John, I did found that site earlier but as you say you can't download the manual and its not exactly 145tv/a so I'm not 100% if it is the right one.

I thought Bush would have a site or is it owned by someone else?

On further searching, you can get an original remote control here - but it's £29

btw the correct model number I used for searching was DVD145TV.

After yet more searching, Bush is part of the Alba group. Not much by way of help on their site either but they do give Bush's product support details here

Hmmm, they're not far from me.

Bush have a site - http://www.bushdigital.co.uk

Unfortunately threre is no mention of your TV on there and it is still very much under construction.

I think it is a bit poor a company the size of Alba Plc and not one part of the business (Goodmans, Bush etc.) has a decent site yet.

The 'No Disc' problem sounds like the lens is dirty. Use a DVD (not CD) lens cleaner and it should be fine.

Out of interest, does it play Audio CDs OK?

Hope this helps

No, not playing any disc's. Just "no disc" for everything.

Checking that manual site again ti seems they are offering service manuals not user manuals. I've emailed Alba to see if the can supply a manual. As I say I think I will need an original remote to tune in the telly.

Excuse my ignorance is a DVD lens cleaner a disc or a chemical I have to buy?

Okay I see its a disc.

Are they okay to use in a laptop too?

Can't even get the lens cleaner to work. The discs start to spin and then stop.

A DVD lens cleaner is a disc, often supplied with a little bottle of a cleaning chemical.

Often they are refered to as 'CD/DVD lens cleaners' these days as they serve both purposes.

Did you get a tube of something with it? Not sure what the chemical is. If so try this, putting a little on the brushes of the disc. I would imagine it would work in a laptop also.

If the disc start to spin up then at least you are getting somewhere. The player will roughly follow this pattern of playing the CD:

(I got this bit of another thread)

1. The laser will switch on.

2. Laser will attempt to focus (the ticking you can sometimes hear).

3. If focus is achieved, CD will spin up until the PLL locks with the data on the CD.

4. Tracking servo will then move the laser over the data area to start to read the CD.

5. Player will then read TOC (Table Of Contents) and display the total tracks & time.

If the laser is giving no output, which is usually why they fail, all of this will end at step 2.

(End Quote)

Try the lens cleaner 3 or 4 more times. If it still doesn't work, it unfortunately sounds knackered to me.

Bush may be able to help if this does not work.

Okay thanks. I'll try again but as you say could be knackered. Not sure whether £29 for the remote is worth it either.

Oops forgot to say about what happens when the CD is loaded (in the quote from another post)

It gets to step 3 which means that the laser is working but the PLL may not be... it is probably a dody circuit or integrated circuit (IC).

There is a 145 SERIES Operating Guide on the list but it's looking bad for it working anyway
