This song doesn't seemed to have taken off quickly at all despite the release of the music video. It reached #11 on itunes earlier in the week and has now fallen to #14 due to the england athems and this weeks new release (Kickstarts, All the Lovers & Dancing On My Own in time). Telephone went to number one within a week (and a couple of days) of the music video premiere which makes me think that Alejandro will not achieve similar success or even a top 5 placing. Your thoughts?

It's a poor song with a poor video. Plus it's the third single from an album that hasn't left the top ten this year (and it's June).

I can see it going #10 at best.

Has the video been on TV yet?

I predict it reaching maybe #7 on the week it's released to TV. Possibly higher if it does well on TV because then it'll get more radio play and may make the top 5.

Does anyone else think this song sounds like Ace of Base?

The official release isn't for another 2 weeks yet. Top 10 I reckon, which would be a good result. The album is beyond the stage where the singles are expected to challenge for no.1.

Probably around number 5 or 6. Not her best but will still do quite well. Dance in the Dark should do better

Dance In The Dark isn't being released, Alejandro has been confirmed as the final single from The Fame Monster.
And for Alejandro, I feel that the public has already accepted it quite well. It should get top 10 if the hype surrounds it, just like Telephone. Never going to be #1, top ten though, I think.

Top 5 for sure, maybe even top 3 and number 1 isn't out the question tbh

It is out of the question. A third single (especially one as poor as 'Alejandro') from the biggest selling album of the year is not going to get #1. I'm happy to be proven wrong, but at best GaGa is going to do what 'Te Amo', 'Your Love Is My Drug' and'Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart' (before BGT) did and that's peak outside the top tenon iTunes, then begin to fall, then rise a bit when the release date comes thus meaning the chart position will probably be between #12 - #15.

It's not officially released until 28th June, so Gaga addicts will flock in their tens to buy the physical release... probably.

Haha so funny I won't be, I never buy any singles from an album I already own

It wasn't meant a a joke (OK, the "tens" part was.... but that was targeted at how few people buy physical releases now). I believe the same thing happened with Telephone? It was downloadable for a long time and first appeared in the chart back in December 2009 but never peaked until a couple of weeks after it's physical release.

It actually mad a big jump from like #31 to #12 the week the video was released and got to #1 the week after. The video played a huge part in the songs success.

Yes the video has been released but I haven't seen it on TV yet and it's not officially released untill the 28th June.

I can see it being a top 5 hit for sure and a #1 is still possible.

It's not a Bad Romance which was loved from the start it's a grower of a song but I love it now and I'm sure people will go out and buy the song or download it.

Alejandro is a great song

It will be the hardest song to reach a high position because the majority of people who like Lady Gaga's music would've already purchased the album, so there's no real need to download a song from it again to help it in the charts when you already own it..

Telephone was already released and she'd already done a performance over here.

Alejandro will do well, rofl, seriously - like people have said it hasn't even been released yet and it's at number 19.

It's extremely repetitive and dull, sounds like something Geri Halliwell would have come out with at the turn of the last century.

Yep. Just means less sales for the week that it's most important.

Plenty of singles these days break the top 40/30/20/10 before a release date. It's very common now. I don't know why you suddenly think that because she's at #19 now means she can jump up nine places to a top ten spot next week or the week after when she's already being overtaken on iTunes and the video has been poorly recieved.

"rofl" back at ya.

Also, it's good that she is releasing something a little different to previous singles. But no, most Gaga fans here would rather she released Dance In The Dark instead

Alejando is the poorest on the album, imo. It's not unique at all and doesn't stand out.

Dance in the Dark has been cited by many as a clear stand out. It has deep, dark lyrics with a strong message but at the same time has a massive catchy chorus and would be a great summer smash.

yea i definitely agree, dance in the dark is pretty epic and its a shame if it just goes unreleased, but alejandro is just so insanely catchy and summery but kinda sinister at the same time, anyways glad its getting released, hope it does well!

Alejandro up 9 to 19 in the UK singles chart last night. And it's official release is till just under 2 weeks time.

I think it could get a #1.
