Can any mp3 player can do this ?

Anyone know of an mp3 player which lets you delete tracks using buttons on the player itself, rather than having to first connect it to a computer and then delete. ?

you might be able to do it on a smartphone, i think you an get an app for iphone/ipod touch that lets you browse files in the inner worings of the phone, you might be able to move and delete them too (ie. like windows explorer on the pc)

normally it's not something you would normally need to do, you only need to make more space to add more files, which is done via a computer. normally delete wouldn't be on the device mainly so you can't delete the music by mistake by button mashing in your pocket/bag

why do you want this function?

I'm a big radio-ipod fan. Put about 20 on the player each time, listen thru and replace.

Thing is I'm v.v.v.forgetful. So after listening to one and going away, when I return I've forgotten which one I've just listened to. Guess I could just make a note of which ones I've 'done' but why spend 20p on a pencil if I can spend £60 on an mp3 player that does the delete job.

As for iphone/itouch iiuc they're in the region of £100+ which might just be outside my "willing to spend comfort zone"

Sandisk Sansa Clip can do it, I like the idea of being able to delete tracks off an album if I don't like them, rather than later marking or taking a note and deleting when connected to the PC.

Joined SanDisk forum for their Sansa Clip device - just to confirm this is correct. Then I'll be searching eBay like a man possessed. Thanx for the pointer.

All my Creative Players have had this ability - currently using the Creative Zen 32gb and am always deleting stuff on the go - I'm shocked that not all players have this feature?!!

I had a Zen Microphoto a few years back - good looking player, good set of features. Something fairly cool about a 4gig microdrive as well.

Incidentally, I was *very* lucky with my Sansa Clip - it was only £10 for the 2gig model down at PC world

Mrs Fluff's been using this for the last 4 years very happily! The colour on the screen has recently gone iffy, but she doesn't use it for videos anyway. It's still perfectly readable for selecting music. Nice dinky device! She's got the 4GB, which is far too small for me, but it's done her very well indeed!

My Cowon D2+ can do this, and it has a DAB radio too. But Cowon have just discontinued it.
