What a couple of belting episodes tonight! I didn't think they'd manage to top Monday's triple, but I think they were even better. What with Les/Chesney, and Sarah/Todd/Eileen/Jason, it was emotional stuff. I swear these characters are real

I thought it was excellently written and acted tonight. I realised tonight how good an actress Tina O'Brien was. She was absolutely brilliant. especially when she was talking to the priest.

Bruno Langley is so convincing as well, where does he get the strength to portray all that emotion.

Sue Cleaver goes from strength to strength. Her character is just so real.

The performances were very emotionally charged and they all deserve to win awards, but I just love Chesney. he really tugs at your heart strings.

They were all fantastic, and some people obviously think they were previously unjust to say that the actors couldn't perform...

What was the point of Sarah's chat with the vicar, when she was not prepared to listen.

The scene at the end with Todd and Jason, really brought a lump to my throat, so powerful and emotional.

Last night's double bill was excellent. I ended up with tears in my eyes. All the performances were excellent, but for me it was Tina O'Brien and Sue Cleaver who really stood out. Sarah's agony when she was talking to the Vicar, and Eileen talk with Steve were just great, both bits could have been melodramatic or over the top, but they were played so well, it was just moving.

Have to agree, i was scared it would go down hill from Mondays excellent triple bill, but it kept the storyline up. I thought the Jason/Todd chat was very good, and the acting was excellent. And Bethany is getting a few lines too, but i did think it was a bit mean of Sarah to drag Bethany over to Todd's for another slanging match. When she could have explained to her at home.

SPOILER...

And I think Eileen gets another kick in the guts this coming week, when Steve tells her he's found a buyer for the house and she'll have to leave!

I agree - I cried twice - once when Eileen was talking to Steve (the line about him always being judged by who he gets into bed with rather than his kindness etc ) and then when Eileen was in the street and she said how proud she was of her son. Tears streaming down my face.

I'm glad that this storyline has allowed Sue Cleaver some excellent scenes to show off her acting talents - her character had been wasted a bit of late.

I anticipated that it would, so I didn't watch Easties

Another two great episodes from Corrie, excellent writing and acting. Todd and Jason managed to carry off that final scene without making it seem cliched or unlikely which can't have been easy. Despite the drama the writers still managed to include some humour with Les and 'Doris', and Eileen's "Jason's so straight he's practically a caveman".

And so good to see Sue Cleaver given some great material over the past couple of weeks, previously she'd been sadly neglected.

Can't think of a word of criticism about it really, and am so glad I didn't spoil the effect by watching Eastenders in between

So true, also Eileen scene with Steve, the things she was saying could so easily come over a sermon, preaching at the audience, but it didn't, they both played it so well, it was just a heartbroken mother speaking. I've always loved the relationship between Steve and Eileen, and this just confirmed how good those two do scenes together, both comedy and now drama.

Yes - just re-watched that scene on the omnibus. Very fond of Steve, think he's really developed as an actor. As you say they're both particularly good at comedy but can come up with the goods in dramatic scenes too.

The writers have been careful to pace it well so that the points of high emotion have greatest impact. The whole storyline has been very impressively thought out, and it must be a pleasure for the actors to work on. EE, eat yer heart out.

agree i think this guy has just got better and better as the story has unfolded.
i have seen some where that if it was not a gay theme then he would not have been notice.
well i am intrested in it because it has gay issues to the story line, i think he pulls it off.

I don't! The whole point was that Sarah didn't think it was her responsibility to explain Todd's departure, that was something he should have done himself. He should have taken the opportunity she gave him to say his farewells..

Also, its easy to forget, Sarah is only 17, she's already got one child and is heavily pregnant with the next with emotions all over the place. Although it was the worst thing she could have done for Beth, her actions were, in that situation, not rational but entirely understandable and it was compeltely believeable that she would have reacted like that.

Blimey! Surely that will have to be in the post-watershed episode?!

Yeh I agree last nights double Corrie was excellent written and acted by all involved. Poor little Chessers just cant' get a break can he. his vile mum running out on him, although she did him a favour if you ask me, poor little mite. I loved Todd and Jason's scenes and I got a lump in me throat when Eileen defended Todd against the whole Street.

I agree Sarah's action with Bethany at the end were not the best course of action but very understandable and likely a girl in her position would do something like that. And if that wasn't heartbreaking enough, next week is gonna be a real tearjerker.

Bethany would have smiled and giggled at whoever told her regardless of what they said.

It just keeps getting better. Every time Chesney is in a scene I become amazed that an actor that young can be so talented. But he's not the only one. Sarah, Todd, Fiz, Kirk and even Jason were all excellent in their performances, good to see that there IS still such a thing as a TALENTED YOUNG ACTOR. These people make me forget all about how rubbish Vicki, Spencer and co. are down on EE.
Older actors also delivered excellent performances. Eileen was very moving when she stood up for Todd. Fred and Les and Gail were also brilliant. The storylines and acting couldn't be better IMO
