HTC Desire - Android - does it come with Office (Excel etc)?

Hi there,

I was wondering if the Desire came with an Office application, or if there was a free one to download?

Also my wife used her old old Windows mobile phone for a calendar and it use to come up with forthcoming events on the front page - is it possible to do this with the Desire as well (it has it on my HD2)?

We have not had a chance to play with one yet, but it looks a great phone.

Thanks, Mark.

Hi there.

I know that my HTC Hero came with "Quick Office" which allows you to view Office documents.

Regarding the calender, all you need to do is put the "Calendar" App on a homescreen (select the 2nd, smaller one) and it will tell you upcoming events.

Thanks for that.

The Quick Office only allows you to view the documents then?

Just that she created/updates documents on her mobile and wanted to still be able to do that (finances etc).

Thanks.

I was wondering if anybody had the full version of Quick Office HERE and what that was like to create spreadsheets?

Thanks.

Certainly supports documents to go, you can get the reader version for free but to edit will cost.

I haven't used it on android but on a palm years ago it was excellent

Android Agenda Widget (free or paid in the Market) gives upcoming events on your homescreen. It takes a bit of customising to get it looking how you want, but it's very flexible and the developer is great at answering emails and helping you out.

Just tried the free versions of quick office & docs to go side by side on a large word doc. D2G renders graphics a hell of a lot faster (gave up on quick office) and certainly copes a lot better with the bigger files

Wow, the thought of trying to edit or administer an excel document on a mobile phone sounds painful, creating from scratch sounds even worse.

similar for any other document. Viewing and the lightest editing is all I could muster.
