hi i have recently gone onto the iphone sim only 20 deal and if i go onto o2 active then onto my bolt ons & services it says "Max £40 Data Abroad - Free" does anyone know what this means? Ive been searching the net, but can't find anything, just thought i would ask on here before ringing o2!

The "Max £40 Data Abroad - Free" means that you cannot incur cost of more than £40 when you are overseas, so preventing yourself from having an extremely high phone bill on returning home if this limit were not there.

There is an EU law that limits the amount you can be charged for using data in EU countries to €50. It will be to satisfy that.

I recently asked an o2 advisor what this meant and I was told that I would get £40 free data abroad or 50mb. He said once I get to this limit I will be notified that this was the case and a restriction put on until I removed it.

So as far as I'm aware, I will get £40 free then no more. This came from an advisor. Any others hears anything yet.

Thanks

Stephen.

You will be charged up to £40. After that any more use is free until you hit 50MB, after which you are restricted.

You do not get £40 free! As others have said it is a max amount they will allow your bill to get to when abroad. Once you hit £40 they block the data.

They don't block you when you hit £40. They block you when you hit 50MB as I said above.

Strange post, just repeating what others have said and then adding something wrong at then end...
