No.

He's a whole new thing. He's better than Mozart.

He is..........God.

Um....no.

He's a decent lyricist, great pianist, and frontman. His voice has matured a lot in recent years, which I like.

Agreed, and also a decent guitarist too.

He's not a musical genius like Prince, Michael Jackson, Hendrix, Zappa etc, but is still a solid musician

He does a good Radiohead impression... Well, a half-decent one.
I find he's a good musician, but he's not very original, so I wouldn't say he's a genius. He's at his best when aping other bands like Radiohead and Queen etc.

You really can't have listened to much Radiohead or Muse then, because they sound nothing alike. Maybe Showbiz had slight hints of what Radiohead were doing, but post-Showbiz, there's really no similarity.

I'll give Matt some credit he's got a better voice than that guy.

Thom Yorke just wails horribly into the microphone, especially on the last album.

I think Bellamy would just like to be ranked up their with Rachmaninov and Chopin. He certainly pays homage to them in his music

Muse are my favourite band and i'm guessing that if there was a vote in Q, NME, Kerrang then he probably would rank above Mozart. That's because all of those kinds of votes are usually utter rubbish.

Remember that Greatest Musician of the Millenium where Robbie Williams topped Bach, Mozart and Beethoven?

Bellamy has moved more into orchestral music, I think it was rumoured that the previous album could have been a symphony instead of individual tracks.

Plus, you can't really compare the two artists or the musical styles.

Yes indeedy

But seriously, I could listen to his voice all day (even if I get sick of his voice on Showbiz/OoS, I can just listen to some more recent stuff where it sounds different and more mature). When he plays guitar and piano you can feel the emotion with which he is playing. Listening to his music can make me feel sad, or angry, or cheer me up. It is a thing of beauty

...hasn't written a good song since Origin of Symmetry and is, in fact, descending into pop banality faster than one can say "Knights of ****ing Cydonia."

I agree with you to an extent, I didn't think much of The Resistance, but surely you can admit Absolution was pretty great? Incidentally, Hoodoo is one of the best songs he's written imo, which was from BHAR; so pretty recent. That's just my opinion though.

Absolution was ok and I enjoyed it somewhat but since BHaR and The Resistance I've come to associate it with the beginning of the end of my love affair with Muse. There was a definite change of musical direction occuring on Absolution that has only deteriorated as time has gone on, imo; viz, Matt Bellamy was a guitar virtuoso...

There are several tracks on BHAR that I enjoy. Infact Take A Bow is probably my favourite Muse song.

The Resistance was ok. It had some good riffs and parts of tracks. Not really a decent full song though. Maybe he/they pushed the bands evolution a little too far.

Anyone else hate it when so called Muse fans start talking music and think they know it all when clearly they don't know a thing?

Funny, all the old Muse fans seem to have been robbed by the pop masses

People who just sit there and call Matt average/a sell out/a Radiohead copycat/bad singer whatever are so, so wrong. Fair enough, you might not like him or his style of music. I mean, I don't like Bono or much of U2's music, but I can't deny he's bloody good at what he does. Same with Kurt Cobain from Nirvana, I really don't like the band, but he was a very talented guy, no denying that.

Matt is clearly not an "average/semi-decent" musician. He is one of the best musicians out there. And people saying that their music has changed, well, tough tits, that's what bands do. They change and evolve. If they didn't they would be stuck in a rut and become boring, pointless, wasted talent, all to please a few shitty fans who'd moan about the music anyway. I bet you the people who moan and say "Oh, they haven't had a good song since Absolution/Origin of Symmetry" would be the first in queue to say "Oh, Muse are shit. All their songs sound the same." If you don't like their new music then by their old albums. Or, even better, buy some Coldplay albums. Perfect example of a band who just can't evolve and waste their talent by spectacularly staying shit for A WHOLE DECADE.

And as for the Radiohead/Thom Yorke comments, well, Matt has said countless times that he doesn't listen to Radiohead. Sure, they have similair voices, and Showbiz was similair to Radiohead, but copying? Please. Sit yourself down and imagine Radiohead playing New Born or Hysteria or Butterflies and Hurricanes. It's not happeneing. All the people making these comparisons have probably only ever listened to Starlight and just repeating what NME has drivelled into their brains.

And bad singer?

I rest my f**king case!
