Help! Need a Sonic Screwdriver
berncol
15-06-2010
Does anyone know anywhere that has the 11th Doctor's sonic screwdriver in stock?
It's my son's birthday at the weekend and, although I'd ordered one in plenty of time from Forbidden Planet, it's status is now 'Pre-Order'.
I don't want to pay Ebay prices (or the current Amazon one).
Is it really out of stock everywhere right now?

Having a similar hunt myself (got a bit more time, its for the boy's Christmas), but Argos seem to be out of stock as well.....

Toys R Us? Often supermarkets have them too. It's times like these when you miss Woolworths!

Gonna try the Toys R Us route at the weekend I think...

Have they fixed them yet?

Got my son one for his birthday at the end of May and it only lasted 3 days before it emitted no more sound. After a google I found it was a flaw with them and there were lots of complaints. Don't want to buy a new one until I know they are no longer shoddy.

Ahhh, that could explain things

My son got one from ToysrUs at the end of April. It's still working!

Many thanks. I'll have a look in my local Tesco.
There does seem to be a general shortage of them at the moment. Even Character Options' own website is out of them.

It was Tesco I got one for my son from. Interestingly it has FOUR sounds (but 2 you have to find for yourself, meaning press either button once get one sound, press either button again get a second sound).

If anyone's interested I'll post how to get the other 2 sounds out of it.

Play.com and Amazon are good bets and they normally deliver within 4 days. ASDA at a push or perhaps some local toy shops, maybe even Argos.

I thought this post was going to be from someone who had a long night and a lot of cabinets to put up

I've only managed to find the two sounds from each button, I'm interested in knowing the other two sounds please.

Know how you feel OP. Wish mine had moved on from pre-order status before I got locked in the hold of this spaceship. ** Bangs door in futile gesture **

My mum was lucky - in 1975 she only needed a few coloured balls of wool to sort me out. Happy as Larry (or, indeed, Harry).

They're not exactly cheap on amazon, are they? Would he accept a tangerine and a hoop?

Quickly press either sound button 3 times for 1 sound and 4 times for the other

I think it was the 4th sound that broke the original batches of the sonic screwdriver, ironically it makes the sound of a broken sonic screwdriver.
