This will be my first time on DS at Strictly time of year, but I promise :

To try and respect Alesha's opinion
To stop making disparaging remarks about an octogenarian
To come to terms with the fact that Matthew will never want me
To not think badly of Tess because she always has a tight grip on her prompt cards
To not sigh and roll my eyes every time Brendan has a hissy fit
To not compare every male contestant to the lovely Darren Gough
To not shriek " I don't want to see your bliddy guns" should Austin pop up anywhere
To understand that people who I have never heard of could turn out to be my favourite by week 3

Can't wait !!!

I've only one resolution this year, and it's to accept that it's ok if other people don't like James Jordan, and not to take it personally when they bad-mouth him.

Aw Katie maybe in time you will think again - we won't know when we will see Darren and Lilia (or Ian and Matt) on the show and you wouldn't want to miss out. {{{HUGS}}}

If Darren and Lilia are doing the pro dances, I will record the show and just watch that. Otherwise I will not bother at all. I don't think the BBC know what they're doing- everything from judges to camerawork to selection of pros is taking away from the show I used to enjoy. I think they've made a really poor decision and I hope it comes back to bite them.

to not get angry when pathetic forum members say that they are no longer going to watch the show just because there favorite dancer got sidelined -.-

There is absolutely no call for calling anyone pathetic.

Yes, I think it's a bit silly to say you'd stop watching if your favourite is no longer competing, but I have 4 favourites, and I understand that some people watch the show for one professional dancer and therefore won't have any reason to watch anymore - there's no law that says they have to keep watching!

I'd certainly never be so utterly rude as to call someone else pathetic just because they have different feelings or opinions to me. There are some people on this forum who need to grow up, but it's not all the people who say they won't watch next year

If you read my post you would see that I actually mentioned a range of things I think are going wrong with the show, and I could give you lots more examples. Last year it had gotten to the point that I was only watching the show because I love watching Darren and Lilia dance so much. They were the only reason I still enjoyed the show, now they have been taken out of the equation the logical thing for me to do is to stop watching.

Still I guess if I'm not watching the show and therefore not writing on the main forum, you and I will not talk any more... so there will be no need for you to think I am pathetic and me to think you couldn't even be bothered to read my post properly before jumping to conclusions

Why on earth would anyone get angry about someone else choosing not to watch the show? How does that affect you? Do we live in a police state where everyone will be forced to watch strictly each week or explain their actions to a higher authority?

I promise to give Strictly a chance again after my 5 fav dancers being sidelined. It has been my fav programme from the first season and hopefully it still will be.

I promised to ignore pathetic idiots who just want to annoy and upset people just fun of it - don't know who I could be talking about
people can have their own opinions and can choose to watch or not watch strictly if they so wish

i promise not to shout at the tv in the style of Dawn French at the wedding in the vicar of dibley that Vincent's partner or Jared's partner should have been Darren's same with Flavia's in regards to Lilia's - by the way I like Vincent & Flavia they are prob some of my favs pro left so expect them to go next year Also try not to complain when the lineup is announced that the new pros seem (at least on paper) to have the best celeb because we all know by know that what seems good on paper doesn't always translate to the dancefloor.

i promise to give the new boys a chance and will try not to compare them with the ones that left.

i promise that when the lineup is announce or when the couples go down the stairs the first time not to ask where is 'insert ex pro' or say something missing

I will try but prob not succeed in not to comparing this year's show with past series or pros with past pros. Also i will try and not succeed in trying to not say 'insert ex pro' would have been better with that partner

I promise not to make endless reference to the fact that I miss 'insert ex pro' (at least not on the main forum and at least not endless reference )

Perhaps part of your resolution could include being less unpleasant about those members if you post a reply.

I promise not to look down on the less able celebs... I have just started ballroom dance classes and discovered it's a lot harder than it looks!!!

geese god people calm down. i never realised that saying the word pathetic was so discrimination, i was just voicing my opinion which was what i believed you were supposed to do on a public forum .

and as for the forum member who told me to put my toys back in my pram, i think its you who's slightly overreacting .

sorry for any offence, just voicing my opinion on my new series resolution, didn't think it would cause any upset lol !

Not discrimination, no-one ever said that, it's just rude. I sincerely hope you'd never say it to someone directly, so don't say it on a forum either, that's all. It's jus about general politeness towards other people, nothing to do with opinion. You could have just as easily made the same post without calling anyone pathetic, then it wouldn't have been criticised.

It is a public forum, but it has terms and conditions and for this board they say -

Respect other forum members
While you are of course welcome to disagree with other members, we will not tolerate posts which insult, belittle, bait or otherwise antagonise forum members. This includes posts which disrespectfully label others posters as 'fanboys', 'haters' or similar.

'You're a complete idiot: that's not the case at all' is not acceptable; a simple, 'I don't agree' would suffice.

Sounds reasonable to me.

worse things have been said on this forum and it actually wasnt directed at a one person more like a group of people who constantly moan.

You are correct, but that doesn't make it right. It did appear to me to be directed at one person - katie_p. I guess like everything else on here, it depends on how a post reads and how people feel about it.

I thought it sounded rude.

ok, well its ashame people take it to heart and read it the wrong way.

Regardless, it's just basic manners not to be so rude, and I also read it as being directed at one person in particular, but that's irrelevant. It's a shame you don't seem to see that people's different opinions should be respected and if others manage it without being rude, it's certainly possible. It's nothing to do with taking anything to heart, it's to do with common decency.

and that all other people were doing when they said when they are in your words 'moaning'.

Just so you know what I said wasn't directed at you either it was directed to anyone who comes on the forum just to make trouble and to annoy. Your comments seem to be directed at Katie_p but if you say that they weren't then we will have to take your word for it.

In any case i think we all should drop the matter so that this thread goes back to what it was beforehand which was a light-hearted thread about strictly

OK kids, lets get back to the resolutions before DS shuts down the thread

I have another to add to my previous resolutions...

I promise not to make critical comments about the female celebs appearances, sizes etc, but to simply concentrate on what positives they bring to our favourite Saturday night ballroom dancing themed show

I promise not to tut when Bruce makes one of his lame jokes.

I promise to feel ashamed when I break the above resolution.

I promise to stay out of the Is Lilia pregnant? thread, cos there is bound to be one.

I promise to feel ashamed when I break the above resolution, and end up posting that she is beautiful and has curves in all the right places and is NOT fat.

And that she is 'positively glowing'
