Any forum member have hands on experience of this Freeview PVR? I'm considering purchasing one for the world cup. I need to record some matches as SWOB will not tolerate using the TV solely for footy.

I have not been able to find a proper post release review. Any that I've come across are pre release and are nothing more than a manufacturer's blurb.

Any further advice will be very welcome.

Well at least on DS'er has one. Though judging by the comments in this post perhaps no longer?

Thanks Dave. I'm so glad I asked for help. What a pile of garbage it seem to be. The question is where do I go from here? When is the Humax box expected and what about this 3view box?

There is this from Digital Stream

http://www.mitlondon.com/main.php?l_code=03

Which you can get from John Lewis apparently

The thread I lifted the post about the Phillips from seems to be a bit more complementary about it.

Thanks for that info! I like to look of the Digital Stream from John Lewis. At least they give a two year warranty.

Some are sticking with the Philips box and waiting for the promised update but I can't see that fixing all the problems. The one good thing with the Philips was the picture quality, HD and also SD was excellent.

I was looking at the Sagemcom to replace my Philips but that too seems to have it's issues.

Humax I don't know about but I had to return a box last year because of picture problems over HDMI.

The Tesco box is supposed to be back on the shelves tomorrow with new software but again whether it fixes the reported bugs is a wait and see.

As been posted the Digital Stream is available from John Lewis and although there have been some niggles it seems to be the best of the bunch at the moment.

As far as I'm concerned I've placed an order for the 3view as it's getting a good testing before being released on the market at the end of July and has a lot of features others boxes don't

I went to John Lewis and had a look at the Philips and the Digital Stream. They were both on demonstration. In fairness to John Lewis the salesman went to great pains to point out the problems with each and placed a lot of emphasis on the inability to select a channel from the guide on the Philips. I decided to buy the Philips. I was very impressed with the quality of picture but the output from the HDMI socket died after less than 10 minutes. I took it back next and got a no quibble refund.

Back to the drawing board.

An update for the few bugs that the DigitalStream has are being beta tested this weekend and will get a general release before this month is out.

This also includes a DD 5.1 fix.
