I think I have the Strider demo but I can't for the life of me remember it.

Towerfall sounds like Jenga.

Ya the world cup takes a lot of evening time.

I don't think I've played any since Outlast! Played a little bit of it but found it clunky and just too dark, even with the camera light. Installed Stick it to the Man but never started it.

Poo. I was hoping for something along the lines of Assassins Creed: Black Flag or Battlefield 4.

We'll probably get those shortly before their sequels come out.

I think it may be November before any big AAA retail games arrive for PS4+. Driveclub launches October and will be a big game on Plus in October (Even if it is even more cut down now then we originally expected). Then the updates in November and December will have retail games to really showcase the system in the run up to Christmas. Followed by roughly 1 retail game a month from then on (Although maybe only 10 full games over the course of 2015).

Unless MS force Sonys hand by adding some AAA retail games to their service which is possible.

That's my guess anyway.

Not expecting any big name games yet, but I really don't want anymore 8-bit looky likey games either.

Strider I think was generally reviewed as a bit bleh, but at least it doesn't look like it's from 1986.

I am not a fan of these fake retro games either. I didn't enjoy Hotline Miami and haven't really liked the look of many of the other fake retro games I have seen either. Maybe they are more appealing to people who didn't live through the 8 and 16-bit eras or maybe it just me...

Same here. Getting to stage I don't even want them on my download history. Its Not what I bought ps4 for. Yeah I know they can't give us tripple A games but they just do nothing for me.

Another one for not liking them games. I haven't put any more than 5 mins into them. Dead Nation was the last ps+ game I played but I do intend on giving Trine a go tho.

I agree about the pseudo retro titles. The Nidhogg one looks particularly meh. I know it's not about the graphics but really? It looks like a 16k Spectrum!
Transistor is quite nice. Trine is ok. Couldn't bear stick it to the man or mercenary kings.

If its true about Strider, I'll hold off getting on X1 for £6.

I don't mind the retro style games. Dead Nation was a great game which reminded me of Smash TV in a number of ways. Trine is also in many ways a retro platformer but both game have made an effort to modernise the genres, they look and feel modern classics. Its the 8-bit retro look that I find off-putting and the fact the ones I have played also have all the retro annoyances of flaky controls and reams of text you just want to skip through.

Stick it to the man has been my favourite game on PS+ on PS4 so far. Played through the entire thing in about 3 weeks, quick for me.

Neither am i, and i agree with your supposition about people that didn't live through it.

I just dont like the retro graphics, like from merc kings.

You coudln't even call Stick it to the man retro anyway, its just indie (though i hate that term).

Yeah I'm with you there, I hate the retro 8/16 bit look, I don't get the obsession with it.

I do like indie titles though like Pixeljunk Shooter and Stick it to the man, I hope we see more quality titles on plus.

It's the 8/16 bit look I dislike to clarify. Pixeljunk shooter is good but I really didn't get on with stick it to the man.

I quite like a lot of the 8/16-bit style graphics Games to be honest.

There are some which are done in that style that don't work, But equally there are titles done in that style that work well & suit that look.

Mercenary Kings is one of the more recent titles which I really like & which works well in the 2D/Pixel-art style, Reminds me of Metal Slug which is one of my favorite arcade franchises.

I would have rather they just use modern 2D art style like Rayman Origins, I remember all the pixelly games from the 80s, If I want to revisit it I will do so via an emulator.

Some games that do this I still like such as Terraria but I would rather they didn't go with that style.

For me gameplay will always be more important than graphics. Good gameplay can save an ugly game but bad gameplay will always ruin a pretty game and quite honestly if a game is good you tend to stop noticing the quality of the graphics.

Unless you have a form of OCD that is.

I agree about the graphics point. I do think this 8/16 craze is a step too far and the only one I liked was Whatsisname vs the world. Film/comic book tie in. Most of the 8/16 games are a bit poor IMHO.

I didn't buy a next gen console to play games from the 80's, I grew up with them and we've moved on, Its one thing saying graphics are not everything, I agree with that but I don't want 8 bit or 16 bit looking games.

Id rather they said to me...look weve nothing but 8 bits for next 2 months. You can have those or else we'll give you knack but it lasts 2 months

It depends on the game though. Rainbow Moon, for me, was far more fun to play than either Assassins Creed 3 or 4 and we know which one was considered to be the modern game.
