This has been an annual event if you play Football Manager. The first couple of days are always a bit dodgy server wise and you have to activate to play the game.
This will only get worse with digital-only becoming the norm as the cost of upgrading the servers to cope with the spike in demand around releases will not be justified. This won't be localised to just Sony.
I no longer aim to take off the day when FM comes out. I generally take the Monday rather than the Friday as the game can be unplayable at launch.
I am looking at the weekend after Dragon Age:Inquisition comes out to take some time off. It is not ideal but that's the way the world works.
And of course we have those idiot hackers daily trying to take down Microsoft's and Sony's servers. Someone should really go round to their places with a baseball bat - you know, to teach them how to hit a home run - IYSWIM.
