LOL. Sometimes I get the impression you're not taking this entirely seriously Yuffie.

Anyhoo, emails are going out today for day 1 members of PS+, with a limited edition gift.

Check your inboxes for that free Knack download.

There's also word going around that as of the next update on 7th July, us EU folks will be getting our PS+ games on the first Tuesday of every month, same as the US.

I just received an email from Playstation asking for my address so they can send me a personal print

Quote:
“An anniversary gift from PlayStation Plus

PlayStation Plus is turning five. To thank you for being a member from the very start we’d like to send you a personalised print, but we’ll need your address by 13 July 2015.

Supply address
Your print will be unique to you and show everything you’ve achieved as a PlayStation Plus member. Please supply your address before 13 July 2015 if you’d like to receive one- don’t worry, we won’t use your address for anything else.

We’re proud to have so many dedicated players who have been with us since the beginning.

Thanks for being part of five fantastic years!”

Yeah. I got the email too. Nice touch I guess. As long as it doesn't show how much money I have spent on Psn in the last five years .....

With the 5th anniversary of PS+ and Xbox giving Assassins Creed Black Flag for XB1 I am hoping for a good selection of games in July.

I expect disappointment again though.

I expect to be disappointed too, funny how things change though!
Just under a couple of years ago the games getting released on PS+ encouraged me to buy a PS3 and quite soon after a Vita too. (And subsequently the PS4 but that wasn't really due to PS+)
However now we are coming to the point were some of the Games with Gold & the backwards compatibility of the Xbox One are making it a much more attractive proposition. I may be shifting the focus of my gaming again, competition is good for us gamers, Sony need to get their finger out though, resting on the laurels of units sold atm.

Xbox does now have BC, but PlayStation has cross-buy. There have been months where up to 5 games have been playable on the PS4.

I get that some people are frustrated by the lack of AAA retail offerings, but In the intervening years, PS+ has increased the number of platforms it provides games for with no increase in price. In terms of value I find it as good, if not better, than ever.

would Knack be classed as AAA?
I heard it was an awful game

For me I play a lot less PS+ games each month and a get lot less excited about forthcoming announcements.

It still offers value for money, just not the same value it offered me in the past.

It's now compulsory if you want your PS4 online though so I'm sure they've also gained whilst covering extra platforms (it's only really one extra platform compared to MS and it usually gets indie games anyway).
I appreciate the cross play ability, especially in light of having all 3 consoles, and there have been a few gems but a rubbish game is still a rubbish game regardless of the platform it's played on.

I'll be sticking with my PS4 but if MS continue the good work I'll probably have an Xbox One by the end of the year with split loyalties/spending.

I do appreciate that GWG/PS+ isn't a good thing for the industry though and would be perfectly happy with them only giving us 3/4 games a year if the games were of high standard.
I'd rather have 3/4 good games annually on each platform than 60 mediocre/terrible efforts.

What is a good game though?

The 3-4 good games I would like to receive in a year could be considered by others as terrible games.

I consider Assassins Creed Black Flag on Xbox in July a good game but over in the Xbox forum someone considers that a crappy offering because the game can be bought cheaply.

Maybe if they gave us 15 games to choose the 3 or 4 from we'd all be happy(ish)?
We'd certainly have less grounds for complaints.

I've got all the good tennis games on PS3 and as far as I'm aware there aren't any on PS4 yet, unless you count 'Tennis in the face' that is.
It's a possibilty though and the right 'season' for it (I bought it on US PSN for about 50p a few months back).

I consider AC4 a poor game by any standards. I paid for it, and didn't bother playing it, so getting it for free is even less incentive to struggle through.

Which kind of proves your point. Having such a small amount of games would make it even harder to please everyone than it is now.

That would help. It's what they did with the PSN outage compensation games.

i think the problem is that different people consider different types of games good & bad offerings.

For instance you see a lot of grumbles about there been a lot of indie games on PS+ recently, But I have generally enjoyed most of those games so don't really mind seeing more of them. Yeah sure AAA titles would be great but I don't really feel like I need AAA stuff on PS+ for it to be better value or anything.
