Wasn't a bad year for PS+ really, I just wish there were less 2D platformers or puzzlers when it came to indie games, because they all seem very similar to me. Though that really applies in general, not just PS+.

There's an important difference between "indie" and "8-bit".

Indie games, all for them. 8-bit games, played out. If I can play the same game in a Flash player for free on PC it's not really a great PS+ deal.

Agree with Mojobrew. Nowt wrong with a good indie game, Apotheon was one of my favourite plus games this year. The quality overall has been very variable though.
Not a fan of getting psp games for the vita either.
Still, looking forward to Hardware and Nihilumbra. I had a great time with Dragon Age when it came out, so worth a look if you haven't tried it.

There have been retail PS4 games put on PS+. The walking dead season 2, MGS ground zeroes, Infamous first light & Injustice: Gods Among Us are a few examples.

I'd also point out that it wasn't as if there was a lot of big AAA retail games on PS3 over the 1st 1-2 years of PS+, That was something that only really started to become a regular thing over the 1½ years prior to the PS4 release at a point when the PS3 had a big catalog of older games to pick from.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...8PAL_region%29

Also remember that Sony have to get permission from developers & publishers in order to put a game on PS+, They can't just pick whatever they want.
A few examples? They're the only examples spread over two years? What I was referring to though was blockbuster retail games from the first 12 months or so of the PS4's life, none of those you mentioned fit into that category imo. One was an add on, one was a demo and the other two were nothing to get excited about. The PS4 does have a sizable enough library of games now and Sony can pick what they want when they're first party titles.

There also wasn't many subscribers in the early years of PS+, People only started subscribing when PS+ started offering AAA retail games.

This year, for PS4, I have enjoyed Transistor, Oddworld, MGS5, Rocket League, Lara Croft&The Temple Of Osiris, Gauntlet and King's Quest.

When you add in the games I have played for the Vita and PS3 and the extra discounts on games I have bought because I am a PS+ member then the subscription is a steal.

There are a few retail games, Diablo 3 and Lords of The Fallen, that I would play if they were on the PS+ service but I feel if I hadn't paid for them then I can't be that bothered about them.

This month coming, I will be trying out Grim Fandango and Nililumbra.

There's been a huge 60% increase in PS+ subs over the last 12 months. If this proves anything it's that it's completely pointless to complain about the monthly games anymore, Sony has effectively been told keep doing what you're doing.

No surprise now they hide online play behind a paywall.

If it wasn't for online play I would no longer subscriber to PS+ but online gaming is a big part of what I enjoy so I have to pay the online tax.

Calling it a tax is a bit unfair. Its a service much like your mobile phone or your broadband. I don't hear people complain that they bought a shiny new phone and then the functionality is reduced because they can't make calls

You do realise that there is a cost to running and maintaining the servers you play your games on. Whether that should be included on the cost of the game is anyone's guess.

Of course you could question that if you play COD then why does Sony have to involved in any way shape or form on online play.

As most people would, I'd prefer it online gaming was free, but with PS4 ownership increasing at such a massive rate (almost 6 million during the Christmas buying season alone) their investment in servers to keep it all running must be huge. They were doing pretty well for a while considering the massive strain that must have been on PSN will all the new registrations, firmware updates, game patches and loads of us off work with nothing better to do than shoot each other.

(Until this week's outage, broke that streak obviously)

Paid for PSN offers no advantages over free PSN. Too many games still use P2P servers, online options are still inferior to the versatility of PC online 15 years ago and paid PSN seems to have more issues than free PSN every did.

I wouldn't mind paying for online gaming if we actually saw some sort of advantage over the free service. As a big fan of Minecraft its infuriating at times because its all run off my own connection so my mate cannot build on our map unless I am online. If PS+ included the option for us to run our own custom server for our favourite game it would be worth the subscription alone.

IMHO the reason you build a high quality free network is to bring users into you network, the more users you get the more people you get buying from your store and that is how you make money.

Platinum hunters... Hardware Online Arena free on PS+ for PS4 this month has one of the easiest platinums I've seen

I'm still yet to platinum anything usually because of daft trophies that require you to play through games 4 times, or co-op something with a friend

Hardware just requires you to play it and you'll get them all eventually, I'm well on the way now.

I was looking at the trophies. It does seem doable. Just reach a high level and get plenty of kills.

Here's a good bet for a possible PS+ game next month. PC 2D side scrolling shooter Not A Hero launches on PS4 on February 2nd, which just so happens to be the date that the monthly games change over. It certainly looks like the kind of game PS+ gets these days, it's from Hotline Miami's Devolver Digital though so it might be decent.

Actually I might have jumped the gun, I was reading about it on Eurogamer and they've said it's £9.99, which would obviously rule it out as a PS+ title.

Not necessarily. It might be free on plus and then 9.99 for non members.

Yeah just got mine. Seriously, they couldn't do it themselves and increment everyone's account. We had to add a code.

P's. And I know this can be seen both ways but for the inconvenience normally you get downtime plus. So say sorry we were down for the day, here's 2 days to make up for it. Sorry.

However guess can be seen as we always look for something for nothing.

I'm in the first camp though lol

I would guess from Sony point of view doing it this way means more people will know about the compensation for the down time and less people will actually take advantage of it. So its win win for them.

For me, its just an inconvenience.

I'm going to guess Knack, Killzone and LBP3.

I mean, it's bound to be right sometime, isn't it?
