Here's a weird thing. I remember having Oddworld New N Tasty as PS+ game for the PS4 but this weekend I have managed to download it free on the Vita as a cross buy.

Was it a cross buy originally?

Can't remember it being one.

The Vita version only came out in January, but yes, it's cross-buy so you get it for free.

To get this straight. If I give my brother my account. Get him to make it primary but then play on his own account after that. Both of us would have access to online and could still play one another on battlefield etc?
Thinking of cutting our costs.

The way I understood it you could do that with PS+ games but only the primary gets the other benefits like online play and cloud storage etc.

I don't think mojo is correct. The way I understand it, if your account has an active ps+ sub, and is the primary account on his ps4, then he'll be able to play online on his account without his own sub.

Ok might try next month. He keeps buying a 1 month sub at a time. Totally bugs me he's paying 72 quid per year.

Ouch. You could always offer to pay a year for him, then get him to pay you five quid a month. Everyone's a winner

April games for Xbox Gold members:

The Wolf Among Us (X1)
Sunset Overdrive (X1)
Dead Space (360)
Saints Row IV (360)

That's four AAA quality titles, and both X1 titles are relatively new and highly rated.

Sony's offerings are appalling compared to this. It makes me sad to see people actually sticking up for them whenever Xbox gamers are getting better titles, plus a better, more stable user experience, for the same amount of money.

My network doesn't run out until next Christmas but unless serious changes are made, I will be cancelling.

Please don't take this the wrong way but isn't it possible Sony aren't bothered about offering decent games simply because the PS4 rules the roost, Sony can basically get away with murder, where as MS can't afford to step wrong.

Have the April PS+ games even been announced yet?

That's pretty much it, Just like MS last generation Sony are in a strong position and are just milking their customers by charging for online play. If it wasn't for Sony starting PS+ as a games service I doubt they would be offering anything, they would just have implemented the online tax like MS did last generation.

PS+ was an awesome service, now its just an easy way to make some extra cash by forcing people who like to play online to pay for that privilege.

The PS+ guess thread on the Sony forums used to be 20+ pages each month, now it barely makes 3 pages, thats how little people care about PS+ these days.

Not officially but it was leaked earlier this month that Dead Star would be one of Aprils PS+ games. We should have the official announcement next week.

First up, from a purely selfish point of view GWG is a fantastic month for me. I'm dead chuffed about Sunset Overdrive being up there. It's something I've wanted to play for ages. And, you can't argue t's not a solid offering of high quality games.

However, look at these comments from the GWG thread....

Great games are only great if you don't already have them. That's the danger of offering old AAA games. Not an issue with Sony's brand new, albeit lower key offerings.

I know there are some that disagree with that sentiment, but there you are.

It's impossible to please everyone, I guess.

That's it in a nutshell basically, it's no coincidence that the downturn in the perceived quality of the PS+ games started when the PS4 launched and PS+ became a requirement for online play, Sony knew what they were doing. The fact they're also now dominating this gen puts them in an even stronger position, it's MS who are playing catch up and have to tempt gamer's with good things. All you can do really if you're unhappy with PS+ is what I did, let it expire.

I actually think the downside in the quality of games has coincided with the introduction of the PS Now service. PS Plus is now the Freeview of video games.

That's very true but I still think the positives of AAA offerings outweigh the negatives.

Like being able to trade your own copy.
A second chance at a game your may have given up on, to early?
Another family member may like to play that game, granted that could apply to any offering.
Also, even though they may have already played those games, just the chance of a decent game (next month) is often better received then constant disappointment.

AAA games pleased more people than Indie games...

The amount of complaints on the PS+ forum and the comments on the Blog of the PS+ news posts are far higher these days than they every where when some AAA turned up that people had already played.

Looking at the end of year votes for best PS+ games we saw inFamous and MGS GZ voted as 2 of the top three, the only two games close to AAA.

I think that speaks volumes. They may have had AAA production values, but the 2 games you mentioned were a DLC add-on and a glorified demo.

It just tells me the majority can't see past their own preconceptions and / or "I hate this 8-bit crap" prejudices.

Whatever. At the risk of sounding like a snob, If that's what the mass market, lowest common denominator, easily pleased, blinkered, Sun reading, X Factor watching majority want, I suppose Sony need to start delivering.

PS - (Please tell me the third game was Rocket League, otherwise we might as well give up on it all)

20th Anniversay PS Steelbook on sale at Shopto for £39.86.

Includes 12 months PS+ sub and a £20 PSN wallet top.

In other words, 12 month PS+ sub works out at £19.86.

Pretty good if you can spend the £20 credit.

My issue with plus at the moment is that it has scared me away from buying anything on PSN. I want to play Everybody's gone to the rapture, Firewatch, Unravelled, Gone Home etc. But I have been caught out so many times buying a game and then having it go into plus the month after, it happened with Broken Age, Transistor, Kings Quest, Grim Fandango, Never Alone and so on. Luck of the draw I know but it keeps happening and I feel like i'm not getting the best of the service because I already own them.

Rocket League and Walking Dead Season Two were the other two winners.

As I have said before, I liked indie games last generation, still do in many cases, but the over load of indie games on PS+ at the expense of what made the service great for me has made me start to resent indie games in general. I wont buy any indie because they will likely turn up on PS+ and when they do turn up on PS+ I find them disappointing because they have replaced the AAA games on the service.

IMHO PS+ is doing more harm than good for indie games.

You don't sound like a snob, you just sound like an idiot.

I've seen you post enough on these forums to see that you will blindly defend whatever Sony do.

And I say this as a certified Sony fan. Half the tech I own is Sony. I've owned every iteration of the Playstation brand. I don't own any other consoles. Playstation Plus over the past year has been a disgrace compared to what has been offered on games for Gold.

Ground Zero and First Light may be glorified DLC, but they were still better than the constant stream of 8-bit offerings, month after month.

Some of the indie offerings have been OK - Trine 2 probably the pick of the bunch - but most have been painfully average. If you're happy being fobbed off, then great - fools and their money are easily parted. For the rest of us, we're not, and will continue to vent these frustrations without being accused of being a part of a "Sun reading, X-Factor watching majority".
