It doesn't matter whether they are indie or AAA or something inbetween the main thing is that the games have to be good. Good in the way that you look forward to playing them - something that you cannot wait for work to end so you can play them.

That hasn't happened for a while with me and PS+ games.

The majority are play once then forget them and delete them in my annual purge.

Last game I really enjoyed was Lara Croft and The Temple Of Osiris. It could be that I have no real love for Indie games as many remind me of stuff I played in the Eighties when it was considered cutting edge.

Rocket league is probably the most memorable for me on ps4.

An interesting article about Playstation Plus which raises the point that the increased number of people on the service could be to blame for the lower quality of games. Publishers will be giving their game free to more people so that will affect their decision to allow it on the service - it could also increase the cost to Sony to secure the rights too.

It's not about "defending Sony". In fact, I'm one of those that voted "no" in this poll. It was total crap at the beginning and I said as much. Nowadays, the reality is PS4 is where I do most of my gaming (for reasons evidently well documented). I go out and buy most of the AAA games I want to play, so I find the games put up on PS+ to be a refreshing diversion.

(Same reason I don't subscribe to EA Access - I've either already got it or not interested in it. Likewise Games With Gold - they've been giving away AAA for a while, but Sunset Overdrive is the first one that I didn't already have)

I bought and played Infamous Second Son. Didn't download the DLC because although it looks great and plays well I found the main game to be a repetitive chore by the end. I downloaded First Light but have never bothered to playing it to this day.

I haven't played a MGS since Sons Of Liberty. I find the series to be a slow, self indulgent, convoluted mess. I gave it a go, didn't get past the first level. No thanks.

As for the rest of what we got, yeah, some of its trash but there have also been titles that have given me hours of enjoyment.

I conceded in my post that if the mass market want AAA then Sony is going to have to change their policy or risk losing subscribers. But personally I think that would be a shame, because as much as it clearly irritates some of you, I'm actually happy with it.

I didn't attack anyone. I made a generalisation about mass market tastes. That there are people crying out for crowd pleasers with little consideration of quality.

Please look back at the post and see what sparked the comment. It was that poll which said a number of people preferred First Light over games such as Transistor, Valiant Hearts, Guacamelee, Unfinished Swan, Limbo, Super Meat Boy.... Presumably not because it's a better game (it isn't), but because of its AAA status.

I was trying to say that, as little as I agree with it on a personal level, Sony have to change their policies now. Because there are people out there that are influenced by hype, tag lines, marketing, glossy pictures, sensationalism, high production values..... The kind of people that are inclined to consume (in my opinion) crap like The Sun and X Factor. Not because they are quality products, but because they are crowd pleasing. They take things purely at face value and can't see beyond it. These type of consumers make up the majority share and Sony is going to have to appease them.

Just look at the PS4 community on Facebook. You can see many of these people on there. They have no clue or even care about how the industry works, or about what is or is not realistically possible. They just stamp their feet and make rediculous demands.

fastest finger I have always found you to be very polite and respectful on the forums and none of your comments come across to me as being a personal dig at people.

Anyway back on topic I do think that since the PS4 launched unfortunately the quality of titles included with the service seems to have generally declined with a couple of exceptions to this and I also thought Sony would not include a title with PS+ if the metascore was too low.
If I was buying a new console right now the Xbox GWG titles look more tempting than the PS+ ones and then there is the EA Access to also consider.

that's the thing. Rightly or wrongly I see it this way too. Sony are going to have to be careful of the bigger picture. By that I mean the future gen. Ps5 etc. The offerings do appear better on the other side, and obviously not always the case, but a lot will climb over the fence.

AAA and indie aside, the quantity of quality content on PS+ has decreased in recent years.

PS+ is a shadow of its former self. Its a service a majority got excited about, now its a service a minority enjoy.

I don't really see what is wrong with adding crowd pleasers to the service, nobody in here has called for indie games to disappear from the service, just to see some AAA games also included so as to appeal to more customers. I have enjoyed some of the indie games that have been on PS+, Lara Croft, Never Alone, Valiant Hearts and Contrast were great games. But I still miss the AAA games alone side those.

It is doubtful whether there is going to be another Xbox after this console. It looks like they are putting their money on the PC and mobile market - as are Sony with their announcement of a mobile phone division.

I can honestly see the free games being scrapped in the future with more emphasis put on Playstation Now type subscription and renting rather than purchase. I can honestly see both GWG and PS+ being wound down as a concept.

It probably wouldn't go down well but killzone shadowfall can be had now for 4.99 in game. Surely even adding that to plus. It would also rekindle the mp side and folk might buy dlc, although I think maps are free on that anyway.

Killzone Shadowfall was a pack-in game, you'll just get complaints that people have it already.

Now be fair, that is a massive assumption, I know we see complaints on forums and the Sony blog, but out of 50 million how many does that account for?

I do agree that they should be putting AAA games on there now, I don't see why the Order isn't on there. Or why not start by getting the PS4 remasters on there? Last of Us, or even Tomb Raider. I think the PS3 version has already been on there.

ive been googling and read that playstation plus cards are valid for 10 years before the code on them expires is that correct?

Dead Star looks good & I've wanted to play Zombi since the initial WiiU release so the PS4 offerings this month for me are really good.

Looking at the PS3, I remember playing a demo of I Am Alive some years back & quite enjoying it; Not sure why I never actually brought the full game TBH. Not so interested in Savage Moon.

Not particularly interested in the Vita offerings this month.


Overall I'd say it's an OK month for me.

I played Zombi on Wii U. I really enjoyed it but found it very difficult. I don't know if that was because of having to use that stupid game pad though! Will be interested to know how well it plays on PS4 as the game pad played a big part in the immersion of Zombi U with using the pad as radar & your back pack.

Dependant on May's games, I may renew at the end of April and grab Zombi before it's gone.

Big dilemma omtt as no doubt when ur plus runs out this time around u won't get ur free online.
