According to the news on DS, it wil be £39.99 a year, and people who register before August 2010 will get a free downloadable copy of LittleBigPlanet.
I was gonna rebuy this for a tenner, so a downloadable copy for free is even better. |

I wont be subscribing unless a whole bunch of new features are announced for the service, its a nice idea and one that could turn out to be worth it with some additional services are included in the future (Like a cover plan).
I am just pleased online gaming remains free... |

By charging for XGC it is a big fudge isnt it? you will be able to chat to you friends if your playing the same game, Text chat to your friends if they are playing a different game but to voice chat with your friends while playing a different game you will have to pay

It just smells like Sony were looking for things to charge for, for this premium service.

I still fail to understand the value this feature bring let alone understand how it can be considered a premium feature, but the internet has been very vocal on how its almost a game changing must have feature and if its that big and important feature I guess they can get away with charging for it... |

I guess Sony heard all those people that repeatedly said Cross Game Chat was worth the LIVE subscription fee for that feature alone.

I dont think there is any justification in charging for XGC when the other chat features are free it is just inconsistant.

Does anybody know if the games you get change every month so say 1 month the free ps1 game is theme park, you can play this for the first month and then month 2 this will no longer play? or can you download as much as you want from it then when you end your subscription would have to delete it all?

If you buy PSN cards from Zavvi I assume that means it's £32 / year. Very tempting but i'm still unsure.

Free PSN for me. I dont think it offers the real things a lot of folk were interested in. extended warranty, XGC(for now), cloud, etc etc.
I believe if you sign up to 1yr quickly you get LBP for free. The 1st game from PSN for free is Wipeout (I think). I have both of these already. What if next month its Hustle Kings, planet minigolf, warhawk. I have all of those. I think it will sort of look good to new folk who have no PSN games but maybe crap to those that already have loads of them. Just my opinion. I do quite like the idea of auto updates and of XGC (should it come) but I am not paying that sort of money for them. For £40/year I can buy 2 new disk games (since I wait til games drop to £20 or less) for those interested in it then best of luck and hope it all works out, but not for me. Wondering also if its per console or per account (a la xbox live) Early access to demos (similar to live too) they forget that demos are a means of selling games. Dont they want to let folk see how brilliant the games are to sell them ??? As above though, I dont buy on release so dont mind the wait for the demo. The features you appear to get on live far outweight what PS+ offers. Only thing PS+ has is the giveaway of titles of their choosing (as long as you stay subscribed) I also fear the price of PSN games rising so that when the discount is applied it brings it back to what was normal price. If I was starting out now and both consoles had a subscription service and with the new 360 slim, I'd probably be edging towards the 360 now. Its only knowing what I know I have for free already on the PS3 that makes it appealing, a lot of new users might not realise this. |

After reading more about it, I dont think it's for me either.
The free games appeal to me but you cant play them when you stop subscribing. Auto update I must admit is a nice feature but not worth £40 a year. If they added tech support (ext warranty) then I might think again. As it stands Thanks Sony, but no thanks, I'll pass. |

Sony are retarded (Literally) if they believe that allowing people to rent some Minis and PSone classics with this subscription is not going to be abused.. It is so easy to foil the DRM on a Psone classic and there are ways to do so on a mini as well.

I wont be paying for this sub-par service either. There isn't one redeemable thing that would make buy into it. PSN as it stands is okay in my book and as long as they don't charge for online gaming (which I don't do but still) then most wont bother either. As Gilly said, you can buy two great games for £40.

I wont pay for it, unless it includes some kind of cover/free replacement service for the PS3. (as i've got a fat 60gb I wouldn't mind some kind of cover).

What about future publishing with Firsplay?....surely loads of folk will now ditch this and use the money towards their PS+ <<<< I know I would Overall though, I dont fancy minis or PS1 classics and most likely it'll be all the PS3 PSN games I already have that they offer. |
