In a late response to the original post - I did get PSPlus on day one and have regretted it ever since.

Yes there may be some reasonable bits and pieces but nothing I don't already have and nothing else that I really want and no actual exclusives. A couple of 1 week early demo's just aint gonna cut it.

Yep I agree. I won't be extending my sub come the end of the month.

I subscribed for the year - so that decision is a fair way away for me yet.

I am kind of enjoying the serivce though. It is getting me playing games that I never would have purchased myself - and I have been enjoying them (Sam and Max, Oddworld etc.) Looking forward to the street fighter game and syphon filter next month too. I would really like a nice beta access offer though and a movie rental a month or something

I had an email from ubisoft. You are entitled to the beta if you pre- order the game.

Game show this offer.

I don't regret the £40 at all. It's been well worth it. Why?

Well breaking it down for myself...

I bought 2 £20 PSN card's which cost me £36 in total.

(PS+ is now £36)

I wanted MGS (psone classic) which was £7.99, but to PS+ subscribers it's half price at £3.99 so saved £4 there.

(PS+ now technically cost me £32)

I got Little Big Planet digital version for free which the disc version would have cost me £10.

(PS+ now technically cost me £22)

That's just in 4 updates! We have 8 more updates remaining. So £22 it's cost me so far and no doubt I'll get more discounts on stuff in the next 8 updates, so it kinda pays for itself, and even if it works out I don't buy many more discounted games and I've paid £15, I've paid £15 for a year to trial many games from PSN to determine if I want to pay full whack for them, had demo's early, and hours of fun!

Its always been said that for newcomers or folk who hadnt previously bought tons off the store that it seemed a good deal.

Perhaps it's time for a brand new thread. . . .

"PSN+ Will you be renewing based on your experience so far".

Would make for an interesting read.

I don't have continuous play so it's not really my place to make the thread.

I thinking coming to the end of the first 12 months Sony will introduce a lot of decent perks, betas and other things so that people who were thinking of leaving will be lulled into another year long subscription - then they'll drop it all down again.

Hmm, Far Cry 2 looks ok, is it good SP and MP?

I take it you just shoot people like Resistance and Killzone 2?

Far Cry 2 is crap. Takes too long to get started. Too much driving. Aiming is awful. Recoil is terrible. Checkpoints are every 3 meters along the road resulting in your 2km's driving per mission being slowed by about 3,000 different firefights, healing being stupid and taking a painfully long animation, running is slow and has another animation after a few seconds, the guns are crap etc etc. Multiplayer is rubbish too.

As for "just shooting" in KZ2!!!! WHAAAAAT????? Killzone is anything but! Objectives...defending people from assassination, stealing speakers from the opponent team, deathmatch, domination all in one mode.

A team with no team work will ALWAYS lose to a close team. It's one of the only games I've played that really require the team to use different classes effectively. A few scouts to spot and mark people on radar, a few tacticians to deploy spawns near the objectives, a few troops to defend the runners, a few boosters to boost run with the objectives and also to protect the target in assassinations, a few sabateurs (me ) to just sneak in to large crowds of enemies disguised to take em out and plant c4

Love it

Assassins Creed beta has now been announced for plus members - running from the 27th of September - which is a week earlier than the general release (which I think is tied to pre-orders)

Happy with this - Beta access was one of the main selling points for me, so hopefully the first of many

Up to now, PlayStation Plus seems like an excuse to hold things back for the rest of us by a week and charge people money for "Early Access" There doesn't seem to be an actual PLUS to this service! I already have most of what's been discounted or given away and the exclusives are crap as before PSN+ Sony wouldn't hold things back for everyone else.

I'm having a little trouble figuring out what PSN Plus actually is, from what i gather you pay the annual fee for free downloads and discounts, do you get any PSN+ features? What is the Plus? It just seems to be for the store not the Network as in gaming features.

yes, its pretty much a rental service but they also offer discounts on buying things from the store too. Feature wise you get automatic download of patches for your games. Unfortunately this comes at a price of it also opens up PUSH demos. So each month they push 2 demos on you (even if you already own the game)

I thought that at first but thought the 12 quid or so for three months wouldn't hurt. I'm pleased I did now. In the month and a bit I've had it I've been really pleased with the pinball, with Sam and Max and with the auto updates. The rest of it, demos and such like i'm not really interested in. I'm certainly considering going for a full year when my three months is up.
